"The property description on Expedia is incorrect. This tea house does not offer rooms with private bathrooms. Their nicest rooms offer an attached squat toilet with a bucket of water. There is no sink and no shower in the “private bathroom.” The advertised “hot shower” is a communal hot shower next to the dining room. The western toilet and sinks are also communal. The owners were unaware of our booking until calling back and forth with someone in Kathmandu. They’re nice people and the tea...

"I stayed here for 4 weeks between 2 trips to Everest Base Camp. It was a perfect base for exploring the surrounding Khumbu region and Namche village. My hosts were friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was well fed, cared for and recovering from my adventures. The rooms were clean, the food great and atmosphere welcoming. A landscape of glacial lakes and looming peaks, this day was part of a two week, unguided trek in the Gokyo Lakes and Everest region. A journey of reverence and a gratefulness for my being among it all. Our days were waking for first light on snow-capped mountains, crossing bridges, prayer flags whipping, over rushing glacial waters, passing trains of yak through dense evergreen forest, and reflecting over ginger tea. I remember in this moment I had fallen behind my companions. "In terms of a Teahouse, it was 5 star. Like a wonderful B&B in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful view of the glacial lake from the hotel. Service was top notch, the room was spotless and was so warm I didn’t need a sleeping bag(blanket provided was fine). The food was fantastic. I hesitate to even call it a teahouse, it’s so much more than that. The owner and staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Couldn’t have asked for more!"
