We really enjoyed our stay at Mimaru Kyoto Nijo Castle. Highly recommend! The hotel is conveniently located right in front of a bus stop for easy transport throughout Kyoto. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful, spacious, and very clean rooms. Comfortably fit my family of 6 (four kids), which is very hard to find among hotels in Japan. The kids really enjoyed the bunk beds. The decor was a beautiful mix of modern and traditional. There are many charging outlets conveniently located throughout the room. We were very happy to have a washer/dryer and kitchenette in the room. Short walk to convenience stores. We really loved this hotel so much, we didn't want to leave. Thank you!

It is a perfect apartment/hotel for our few days in Kyoto. A well-equipped kitchen for cooking light meals, laundry machine and plenty of space! The staffs are very helpful and always pleasant!

It was so big and so well serviced. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. The location is near plenty of useful conveniences and a short walk away from the main attractions.

It was great staying at an apartment after staying at hotels. Much more spacious for a family of four! Was even able to wash clothes and also useful having a small kitchen. Very clean and shower was powerful. Only down side was could hear traffic at night but beds were super comfortable and everyone had a good sleep.

My friends and I stayed here during our trip. Mimaru Kyoto was incredibly clean, spacious, well furnished and had a washer/dryer machine. The Hotel reception went above and beyond when my friend forgot his phone in our room, we were already in Tokyo but they contacted our hotel there and mailed his phone safely to a nearby shipping department. I would definitely stay here again for the clean and spacious rooms, and the incredible service.

Our experience at this hotel deserves 5 stars for a number of reasons. First, the front desk staff was very helpful providing us with guidance on how to get to/from all major sites in Kyoto and Osaka, they helped us with dining options, room service requests and were overall very responsive, and it was very easy to communicate in English. Second, our room had both laundry and full kitchen, and with a supermarket just a short 7-8 minute walk away, we were able to have some home cooked meals and snacks. We had a Japanese style room, more than enough space for a family of 4 with two teenage boys. Third, there are at least three bus routes that stop right by the hotel, so it is very easy to get to Kyoto station, and Omeda station, which we used for a budget friendly option to go to Osaka, and also easy to use the bus to major Kyoto attractions like Bamboo Grove. Even during peak heat season of August, we were able to walk to Nishiki Market about 20 min away. Lastly, this hotel is really clean and comes at a budget friendly price point. Don’t be swayed by the hotel rating on booking sites, this is a rock solid hotel. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so memorable!

We are a family of 4. Kids age 10 and 7. We enjoyed this place and would def stay here again. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, and great for families. I enjoyed having a washer to wash our clothes mid trip. Our kids loved the bunk beds, but what kid doesn’t right?! Lol. Guest service was nice, friendly, and kind. We have zero complaints. Places were either walking distance or easily accessible by bus or taxi. We mostly walked or used taxi to save time, but taxi cost was fairly low IMO compared to Tokyo likely because places were fairly close and cheaper.

I’d say the best about the hotel is the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The room itself is a bit small for 5 but we managed. We even cooked simple foods inside the apartment. The shower, bathtub plus the toilet are all exceeding expectations. I love that we get the view of the Main Street. The tricky part is transportation, will need about 15 min of walk to train station. We seem close to the bus station though! There are some amazing grocery stores nearby, about 10 min walk max! All in all, it was a great accommodation!! (Weather is really warm now, so walking to Kyoto main station would be a bit more difficult because of the weather.)

This hotel was perfect for our purposes. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the local train station but there are also buses nearby. The front desk personnel is outstanding! We chose the Japanese room and were extremely pleased with it. It was spacious, and having the ability to cook and use the refrigerator was very convenient. Hotel staff goes out of their way to please you, and speak great English. When in Kyoto, we will definitely stay again! I highly recommend Mimaru!

A great place to stay! Had plenty of room, stove, microwave, and 4 beds for a reasonable price. Great bathtub/shower. Even a washing machine. Only downside was location to public transport. But definitely a good trade off.

We had a very long day travelling, and the team at Mimaru Kyoto Horikawarokkaku was understandable - had an easy check in and even recommended a restaurant nearby for our dinner. Thank you to the team for a wonderful and warm experience!

Excellent newer property that is more like an apartment than a hotel, in a convenient location, and staff was very nice and helpful! Unit was huge when compared to other hotels in Japan!

The hotel is excellent we had a very pleasant stay. The service could not be any better, the whole staff helped us in every possible way. They have cool activities for kids. Walking distance to train and subway station.
