We just noticed how dimly lit the whole motel is! Beautiful but could have been brighter! Rooms very neat, but bathrooms a little dark for make up application.

Upon arrival we were enamored with the character and architecture of this building. It was a beautiful hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable. The restaurant food was delicious and our sever Keisha was personable and very attentive. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again

I stayed here this past weekend for Planet Comicon and overall it was a positive experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was a nice short walk to the convention center. However, there are was one big thing that bothered me, the food. I paid $25 including taxes and fees to have breakfast delivered to my room, and when I opened the box, I was disappointed in the portion size. A small pile of scrambled eggs, a sausage that couldn't have been more than two inches across, a hashbrown block about the same size as the sausage, and a couple pieces of toast. The taste was fine but it didn't fill me up as much as the asking price implied it would. I do recommend staying here, but make sure you have your own food and drinks to keep in the fridge.

We paid for a double bed bedroom and received a one bed bedroom. There were no rooms to exchange for us to get what we paid for and they did not change the rate of our room. It took 15 min to get our room even though it was clean and ready to go due to ‘inspection’. We were supposed to get a text when ready but we never did. I had to repeatedly go to the counter to check. Guests should also be aware that there is no parking garage- valet only which will cost you and takes 10-15 minutes to get your car each time. If you have somewhere to be- you should build that into your schedule- maybe even more time if there are a lot of people waiting for their cars. The lobby in the winter is freezing from the front doors constantly opening and shutting from valet which can make waiting for your car a little uncomfortable. In retrospect I would have called down to get my car ready and wait to come down. We ordered room service for breakfast, but like most hotels- it was expensive and you don’t get much for it. Better off just going out to get a bite to eat. And KC downtown is just loud in general- so sleep was a little tough….we probably would have experienced this at any of the downtown options to be fair. The convenience of this hotel was great and it’s cute from a boutique perspective- but I think that’s about where my positive comments start and stop on this review. Will not be returning.

The room we reserved was not ready and after waiting, I decided to ask how much longer it would be and staff was unsure. Stayed in several hotels near the Kansas City convention center and this was by far the best! Very personalized service, valet parking, extremely convenient. Two blocks from the convention center and close to tons of great places to eat. Lovely hotel with fantastic environment, decorations, and staff. Will definitely stay there again.

Not the hotel's fault but construction at the entrance made finding where to park tricky. The young valet said I should walk to the adjacent parking lot in the morning and grab my car when I needed it which left me confused about needing a valet. The building is quite old but with plenty of character. The main room in the lobby is striking, especially at night. Once we got the attention of the front desk, we checked into a large room which was nicely decorated with artwork in contrast with wallpaper peeling off in the bathroom. Expedia advertised this property as having room service 24/7 which was not the case unfortunately because that is the primary reason we chose this hotel. We purchased breakfast in advance and were told to place an order at the bar in the main lobby. We ordered 2 eggs a side of sausage, hash browns and bacon plus two orange juice and were told the kitchen was backed up and it would take about 20 minutes. After 35 minutes of staring at the warm orange juice provided, we checked with the bar on the status of our order. We needed to leave at a certain time and would need to cancel if not started. The staff advised us we ordered so many sides, that they were checking on the order and that the hotel normally does not get this slammed with customers. There were 5 customers that I could count in the lobby, 4 of which arrived after us. Within a few minutes the food arrived. The hotel is a historic piece of architecture but not adequately staffed

Great Hotel

Beautiful hotel. Easy to access where valet is. Walkable to a lot of different restaurants and shops. Loved the little coffee shop that is there too! No options for kids food to eat dinner or lunch there but that's why it was easy to walk somewhere so we weren't too concerned about that.

Wow, this very special hotel is a precious piece of history lovingly restored by Hyatt. The exterior, lobby, and entertainment spaces all retain exquisite original architectural details in the Gothic Tudor style. Ornate wood carving, stonework, stained glass windows, and original chandeliers from the 1920’s have been restored with sensitive modern touches. The rooms are plush with modern conveniences and artful touches, like the illuminated portrait of Bertha Goodwin in the foyer of every room. The Town Company restaurant has a Michelin recognized chef, whose wife creates amazing pastries like an apricot jam sticky bun with cashew ginger brittle. Enthusiastically recommended

For the price. Not worth it! Very clean and quant. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are unique and clean, however, the staff wasn’t very friendly and a lot of the amenities such as the ice machine didn’t work. Parking is terrible unless you valet which is an extra cost. Everything in this hotel is an extra cost!!
