Kamppi Chapel is a Lutheran church with a unique minimalist wooden design. Known as the “Chapel of Silence,” this remarkable wooden structure is open for visitors from all backgrounds and beliefs as a place to reflect. Notice the chapel’s curved and soft shape, a stunning example of innovative wood architecture. The inner walls are made from oiled alder planks. The furnishings were constructed using wood from an enormous ash tree. At more than 35 feet (11 meters) tall, the main hall is one of the chapel’s most imposing features.
Relax in the chapel’s tranquil main hall, where the lively Narinkka Square surroundings have been intentionally blocked out. Outside the enclosed wooden shell are secondary spaces that open up toward the square. Kamppi Chapel’s entrance also functions as an exhibition space and an area for social workers and clergymen.
The Social Services Department of the City of Helsinki and the Helsinki parishes operate Kamppi Chapel. This wonderful space is open daily for silent moments and meetings.
Walk to many other excellent Helsinki attractions, such as Parliament House and Helsinki Music Centre, from Kamppi Chapel.
