My Geology Field Trip - Cobb Valley, Glacial Valley in South Island, NZ.
The Oparara Basin, tucked into the north west corner of New Zealand's South Island, is a walker's delight, with easy tracks to stunning locations. In this photo at Maria Gate Arch, a riot of colour is caused by the tannins in the water creating a river of yellows, oranges, reds and browns, which contrast with the white rocks and the lush green vegetation. Just stunning.

Kohaihai is a campground at the northern end of the Karamea highway on the west coast of the South Island. From there we enjoyed a two hour (return) hike to Scott's Beach (this shot was from a lookout along the way). We didn't see another soul the entire time!
