"Functional clean facility with free parking at quayside 50m from the property. Room has lovely view of Loch Fyne. We stayed in Tarbert for 1 night due to the location to catch the ferry to Islay from Kennacraig which is 15 minutes away. Really spacious room and breakfast is delivered in the morning at your specified time you just complete your menu requests the night before. Would certainly stay again if across in this part of idyllic Scotland."

"Very enjoyable family stay We were lucky with the weather so able to take advantage of the beach and hotel grounds Children enjoyed the indoor swimming pool Excellent dinner and breakfast in Tides Restaurant Our waitress Sarah was brilliant"

Horizon Hotel

"The Horison Hotel in close to the sea front in Ayr There is council parking opposite the main hotel entrance which we were told by reception is free all day. The hotel is an old building which is being refurbished. We were allocated a large room at the rear of the hotel which was recently decorated. It had a new bathroom, new carpet and the bed was large and comfortable. The noise was minimal and the TV worked well. Breakfast was included - however we felt this was rather basic for the high room rate. We were also charged and extra £30 for the dog which seems excessive as the rate for the room was high at £150/night. We ate dinner elsewhere which was cheaper. I would rate this hotel mid range 3 Star."

The Glenburn Hotel

"I had a sea view and the view was absolutely stunning. The room was good, bed really comfortable and clean, bathroom clean and seemed relatively new. Water pressure not the best but it's an old building. Looked like someone had spilled bleach on the carpet at the bathrrom door but was clean apart from that. Plenty drawers and wardrobe space. I ate in the restaurant one night and it was nice, good choice and tasty. Maybe a bit old fashioned but it fits with the hotel, which is an old character building. A nice terrace at the front to sit and watch the sunset of an evening but limited space. There are a lot of steps at the front up to the hotel (which were blocked off when I was there) or quite a steep hill to walk up the road. Staff all really helpful - opened the sash window for me that I couldn't manage and lovely and friendly in the reastaurant. With such amazing views there really is nowhere better than Scotland when the sun shines and it did!"
