Disappointing, overpriced, arrogant staff - avoid!
The Hotel Strandparken in Holbaek, Denmark is advertised as a conference and functions hotel – but in reality it is very 'tired'. Several months earlier we had reserved a superior room for 8 nights which overlooked the fjord but we were given a room that was anything but superior overlooking a side road with trees. Our complaint about this was simply met with dismissal by an ‘anything but helpful’ receptionist. They had had several months to get this right but still messed it up! The first thing you notice in the hotel after leaving the main area is that the corridor to the rooms walls are discoloured, marked, disgusting and desperately need painting. Our room was very basic with lumpy beds and zero cupboards (shelves instead). Window between bathroom and bedroom. We had to close a curtain over it for any privacy - but even the curtain was so thin that it's virtually see-through! Housekeeping in the room was 'hit and miss'. Sometimes vacuumed, sometimes not. The bathmat was missing for two days. We were only given one bath towel other days. One of the sliding main window curtains was out of its 'runner' and hanging loose. This wasn't fixed during our entire 8 night stay. The room’s TV was not working at all on the first day. On subsequent days there were only 10 channels with no English language ones at all. In the short time we were examining the channels the picture was constantly pixelating and screen intermittently going blank. There is no more room to continue this !!!

Egentlig god service, men ellers en noget skuffende oplevelse. Et værelse med stopper afløb og et gardin der var gået i stykker. Morgenmaden var også en skuffelse med fuldatændig udkogte æg og på ingen måde lækre råvarer

Average for a three-star hotel
Stayed with my wife for one night between Christmas and new year. Staff were on holyday, so we were given a code prior to out stay, so we could let us self in and out. Everything except the rooms were closed. We were informed about this in advance, so that was OK. Beds was not as comfortable as expected, not good at all. The view over the fjord was amazing. Clean room, but the furniture was not comfortable. Overall an average room for a three-star hotel.

I love this hotel! I was not willing to stay in what was left of hostel or expensive hotel availability in Copenhagen so I ventured out a bit and found this beautiful hotel. The room was quite pleasing and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was great; I had dinner there both evenings and sat on the back deck enjoying the view of the coast and the sunset. The breakfast was also quite good; not overly abundant in choices but it was perfect as I didn't feel compelled to eat too much as it happens with the big buffets. Although I was by myself, this is a great place for couples. It was so quiet and again, the view was beautiful. I forgot to mention the great jogging trail running along the coast.

That view
The rooms is obviously 2 different kinds where one half is the renovated ones. These a new and nice clean looking. The others seems to be the older kind. Staff is friendly but the physical location of the hotel is main selling point here! That view. The rooms could have been cleaner but I feel like it is not enough to subtract anything from the visit. Very pleased with the visit and hotel.

Payment problems!
Amazing amount of trouble with payment. Upon arrival (heavily jet-lagged) the CC terminal was out of order and was made to wait 20 min for them to get it back up and running. Prepayed the stay through Hotels.com but was billed a second time by the hotel also and is now being asked to provide proof of payment. Something is not working here!

Perfectly well suited for a good night of sleep while riding our bikes around Denmark. The older property has been totally renewed and is beautifully situated in a nice park overlooking the water. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the fjord gave it a highly luxurious resort feeling.

Needs some TLC - More conference venue than hotel
We stayed here as we were attending a wedding in a nearby village and there's little choice in the area. The setting of the hotel is great with the balcony / decking at the rear overlooking the fjord. Unfortunately the same can't be said of the interior of the hotel which is very dated and shabby in places. The bathroom was particularly poor, with paint peeling from the fittings and pipework. There were a constant stream of events being held at the hotel, from large corporate functions to a jazz brunch. Unfortunately the result was that the staff had little or no time for the guests staying at the hotel. The staff were also pretty flippant and flat out rude on occasions which is a pity given the amazing welcome we were given in other parts of Denmark. We won't be rushing back.

We stayed here for two nights in between our week in Copenhagen. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast had a good choice. The hotel is in a good position being next to the Holbaek Fjord. If you are thinking of visiting Denmark and want an a supplement to Copenhagen then this could well be the place and hotel to visit.

Hotel ist okay - aber für eine ruhige Nacht nix
Leider war mein Zimmer sehr hellhörig und ich bin nachts durch Geräusche aus den Nachbarzimmern aufgewacht. Das Bett war mir persönlich zu weich. Das Bad ist super eng und am letzten von 3 Nächten gab es kein warmes Wasser mehr (immerhin um 8Uhr morgens) Die Lage ist super am Wasser gelegen, bestimmt optimal im Sommerund nur 10-15 min fußläuftig zum Bahnhof und in die Innenstadt/Restaurants. Das Fitnessstudio ist leider nicht im Hotel selbst sondern 25Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Das Gym selbst ist okay, aber sehr eng und der Umkleidebereich hat keinen eigenen Spind - stattdessen gibt es Spinde auf der Trainingsfläche, wofür ein Schloss selbst mitzubringen ist. Das Frühstück war lecker - keine große Auswahl, aber bei kurzer Reise empfehlenswert.

Det er mit 3. Besøg der, det er et ganske udmærket hotel. Det eneste var at badekarret her i sidste besøg ikke var helt 100% rent. Men ikke nok til jeg ville klage over det, så jeg gjorde det selv lige rent og brugte det. De andre gange det det hele været fint.
