Shabby in Saigon
The hotel is a short walk to Ben Thanh Market and everything else in Dist 1. But the room had no hot water and in 3 nights the sheets were never changed. The carpets in the halls are absolutely filthy. They use the old one key card for the room technology which requires you leave the key at reception if your bedmate is going somewhere else. Pretty shabby.

Overall the stay was OK. The only setback is the breakfast. Exactly the same dishes everyday for the entire 5 days during my stay.

I stayed here 3 times before, this time is disappointed. The receptionist were very rude, especially the manager lady. They never smile to customers. The security guys were very nice. Breakfast is terrible. You come to eat and you leave by yourself, there is no waiter to service at all. The room smell smoke.

The hotel was in a good location, close to Ben Thanh Market. However, I think I got bitten badly by bed bugs there, on my lower legs. As my stay was short (I stayed only two days), I did not realise I had been bitten until I had checked out of the hotel (it takes one day for the bites to start appearing).

Good clean and....blinggy!
This a a good value and very clean hotel. The decor is ultimate bling bling and not to everyones tastes. Everything was very clean. Room was spacious with comfortable bed and good bathroom. Breakfast was ordinary compared to other hotels at this rate we stayed at in Vietnam but still ok.

NEVER book this hotel if arrived at night
Room ok, but 1 star for the attitude of the male reception staff at late night. NEVER book this hotel if you arrived at late night, as I felt like a ghost hotel when I checked in: the security guy was sitting checking his smartphone, no one welcomed me. I stood in front of reception desk and the male staff just asked "What?". No SMILE. I gave him my confirmation email from Hotels.com but he did not find the reservation on system. Things that made I get mad was his impolite and non- supportive attitude: he requested me to contact Hotels.com at the mid-night, saying with his annoyed face. I requested to meet the manager, but he said the manager could not be contacted. He also said I must upgraded the room and paid for the full charge on the next day if I failed to contacted Hotels.com, and he could not afford the compensation with his low salary. I could not believe that I was in the middle of HCM city where is famous for its good service. In the next day morning, the staff was more friendly, however I still had to pay the room rate (higher than the booking, as I had agreed to upgrade to have an accommodation.)To sum it up, it is the worst hotel I've ever experienced in term of reception service.Never booked in Ly Tu Trong Str. again.

At least 5 minutes walk to Ben Thanh Market. Not the best area to stay, it's very quiet at night. As for the hotel, we booked two rooms. Room #1 = superior for 2 adults, Room#2 = double deluxe for 3 adults. Upon reaching the hotel, the staff told us we booked Room #2 for 3 pax but we only get beds for 2. My golden question is, why charge for 3rd adult when you can't provide us bed for the 3rd adult? So where is the 3rd person supposed to sleep? On the floor or in the bathroom? How can you charge us 3 pax (yes is it more expensive than Room #1 by couple of hundreds). Unfortunately, we had two choices. 1) Upgrade a room for extra 20 2) Pay for extra bed for extra 5 (when we have already paid for 3rd adult) We were double charged - extra double - fee A, bed - fee B. We had to pick the upgrade because it comes with an extra bed without paying for it. Expedia clearly states the room is for 3 but the room is only for two. Shower in the toilet is not still, the whole shower head will topple off anytime. The towels have slight brownish stains. The kettle is rusty inside - after asking them to change it is still rusty. Only the 3rd kettle that came is clean. Wall is very thin, you can basically hear everything even when the room is 3 doors away. Every morning at 8 I will get free morning call because the staff will switch on walkie talkie which is really loud. Breakfast has many choices but the food taste is horrible. Even basics like fried noodle can go wrong.

This hotel is located in a good area with lots of restaurants, shops, cafes, markets in walking distance. There is a terrific spa next door (Jolene). Outside of the location benefits, I wouldn't pick it or will ever go back to it. My room had a few plumbing issues (water leak and backed up shower drain to where the water overflowed out of the standing shower). It is on a very busy street so bring earplugs. Although non smoking rooms are available, the smoke smell from other rooms and people smoking in the communal areas traveled everywhere. You can't escape the cigarette smoke smell. When I narrowed this hotel on my search on expedia, it was listed under 4 stars. But if definitely isn't 4 stars and the sign on their front door says they are a 3 star hotel. I felt really upset when I found out. I wouldn't have chosen it if it wasn't a 4 star hotel.

Disappointing !
Arrived after the 2pm check in time and was told that our room wasn't ready for us, receptionist was very flustered . Left our bags and went to look around the city , once we got back at at 5 o'clock the reception staff had changed but the room was ready . Once inside the room we noticed that they had actually down graded us to room with no window and just a picture of a window instead . We made our way back down to the reception to complain and after 10 minutes of arguing they decided to find a superior room with a window, what we had paid for . During our stay here unlike everywhere else on our travels in SE Aisa we were never once welcomed on arrival or departure from the hotel at any point . However on plus side nice clean room good comfortable bed .

Average hotel with unhelpful receptionist
I stay in this hotel for 4 days. I reached the hotel at 10.00 AM and Was told have to wait until 12.00 pm to check-in. Both the front desk receptionist the guy and the fat gal are not helpful at all. We went out in the morning to have our breakfast,on the way out we inform the receptionist to touch up the room. but after 2 hours, when i went into my room, my room is still in a mess. I have to go down to the lobby and waited for another 30 minute for my room to be done. This thing happen for 3 days. overall, the hotel is basic and clean, breakfast is average. The location is near to the Ben Thanh market. This hotel will not be my choice for my next visit to HCM.

Very nice place to stay
The Sunflower hotel is an very nice place to stay, it our second time there. It is located in the heart of district #1. Less then 2 blocks from the famous Ben-Thanh market and there are many good places to eat. The staff couldn't be more friendly and eager to help. The free breakfast is buffet style with eggs cooked to order. There is no restaurant for dinner. The hotel is exceptionally clean. including the garage. We used the Sunflower hotel as are main stay while traveling throughout Vietnam. We stayed in several different rooms while we were there and most have walk in showers with 7' high shower heads. (other hotel shower heads are less then 6')

Hotel reception staff were pleasant & helpful.
The check-in process was fast and pleasant. The breakfast crew were smiley and cheerful. The hotel is very conveniently located within easy access to Ben Thah Market, Saigon Square, my favourite eateries, foot massage and nail spas. I had a wonderful stay experience with Sunflower Saigon Hotel. I will definitely recommend my relatives and friends to this hotel.

Good hotel, good location
Good value and location in District 1. Prime location to go to the Ben Thanh market and night markets. Easy walk to war remnants museum. Many good restaurant locations nearby. Buffet style breakfast with western and traditional Vietnamese options. Bars and clubs are a 15 minute walk. Wifi in room was not great but that can be hit or miss.

Our experience with this hotel started bad from the word go. Here are our reasons as to why we will never stay there again or recommend it to others- 1- we emailed them a week or 2 before arriving to organise a pick up. We had no reply. We were left to find our own way there. 2- the breakfast was rubbish! Cold, lack of variety... Poor! We went out and ate instead 3- hotel staff were so unfriendly! The only friendly ones were the doormen. This really does impact on your overall stay. 4- we could hear every noise, conversation, tap running etc in the rooms above and around us. It was horrible... Footsteps, taps, coughing etc 5- the carpets were filthy, we were giving dirty towels-ew! 6- it was super noisey! I thought it was noisy guests each morning yelling out to each other until the morning we left when I found the hotel staff yelling to each other from one level to someone on another level. At 7am! 7- when asked if we could organise a airport transfer to go home we were told to take a cab. Absolutely poor service. Lack of friendliness from staff and lack of professionalism. This was our 3rd time to Ho Chi Minh and the most disappointing! Spend a little extra and stay else where... We will never stay here again.

The staff were amazing, obe of the Bell boys called Duk was an absolute champion. He assisted us when we lost our phones and took us to the police station, gave great advice for hang out spots an an all around great bloke. The breakfast was great and included in the price, you must request an omlette though it was delicious and had it 5 days in a row once i found out about it. In regards to location, it couldn't have been better. The market was so close, and eberything else in walking distance. I will definately be a life long member of the Sunflower hotel when i return in the future.

3 stars Hotel - Unpleasant at the most
My family and I were booked to stay-in for 4 nights, it had a good location, not far from Ben Thanh Market, but the first 2 nights were unpleasant at the most... we had some really noisy neighbors staying next door, and I had to call reception at 22:30 for we had a sleeping baby over, but it seemed like they didn't even bother sending someone up and talk to their clients for the noise went on 'til 1AM... ... on the 2nd night same thing happened, and I just had to go and knock on their door... receptionist was so unprofessional the morning I went to tell them, I just gave up on their atittude...

Best service, they would still make us fresh breakfast even if we had missd it. Rooms are clean and pple are also very nice, loved this hotel esp bringing along my 7 yr old. Id recommend to fiture travlers. Cost approx $41 online, but $65 purchasing from hotel in US dollars
