"This is the best place to stay in Pietermaritzburg! The location is perfect for anyone affiliated with the university - literally across the street. You can have breakfast and supper - both excellent - and the hosts are extremely hospitable and helpful. We arrived with a flat tire, and Gys helped us get a new car the next morning. "The rooms themselves were great and the breakfast was delicious. However, there is a shared kitchen which is available to prepare any other meals…it is not in good condition at all and needs some serious TLC if the space is to be offered for guest use. For example the oven is FILTHY, the sink is perpetually full of used, dirty dishes and cutlery/crockery/glasses/cookware all need to be upgraded/replaced. "Check in was a problem they didn't know about my stay.... I had to email booking confirmation. Shower room is too tiny, only one bath towel. Air-conditioner not working... It truly feels like a quiet sanctuary in the heart of Hilton. The Highlights: The Warm Welcome: A huge thank you to Magda and Mandy(helping with last minute sewing suppliesl! Their hospitality really sets this place apart. They are incredibly attentive, professional, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and well-cared for throughout our stay. The Rooms: Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and elegantly decorated. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail made it feel like a true home away from home.
