This place is immaculate! Newly decorated 1882 property that looks like a West Elm showcase. We stayed in the queen room upstairs- and were glad we opted for the smaller room as it had a spacious private balcony, view of the pool and garden and lots of light. It’s compact so ideal for short stays. Breakfast was a 5 star experience. A 15 min stroll gets you to downtown Healdsburg with plenty of shops and tasting rooms. Thoroughly recommended!

Smile is everything in a hospitality business! The guy who checked us in did not provide any info, and was not friendly. The were some spots on the bed. The check out time is 11 am, the stuff knocked our door every hour from 9:00 am offering room service or reminding us to vacate the place. Breakfast- no comments at all, I cant eat over -salted rice and rotten salmon. The hotel itself is beautiful, but what is this hotel without great staff?!

This was our first trip to California wine country. The Ruse was a terrific experience. The grounds were fantastic with Putting green, bocce and pickle ball. Out chef Craig and Joanna were the greatest experience for our breakfast… not only the presentation of food, but the kind personal touch that made us feel like family. I highly recommend this resort while staying in the Healdsburg area.

Pros: Grounds are beautifully landscaped. Design style of room pleasing. Very nice linens. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff in restaurant/breakfast area. Cons: Reception staff efficient but not particularly friendly. TV in our room was mounted at foot of bed, parallel to bed. A bit awkward to view. Room was a bit crowded, with only 15" or so on one side of the bed. No magnifying makeup mirror in bathroom.

Everything was brand new and clean, staff was super nice. Liked the chef prepared breakfasts. Enjoyed the bocce and pickle ball, would have liked to try the hot tub, but it was a cold weekend.

The Ruse was impressive. They basically gutted an early century Victorian and everything in the house is brand new and updated to the standards of todays travelers. Our room had a fireplace, brand new bathroom, sitting area and dressing area. We had a big patio to sit in as well. The grounds have a huge pro designed putting green, large pool with spa and my wife and I enjoyed several games of pickle ball on one of their 6 courts. They have a new dining hall with a chef that is fun to talk to and is credentialed under a few Michelin starred restaurants. They have rooms in the main house as well as cottages near the pool and putting greens. I am definitely making this place my go-to every time I go back to Healdsburg.
