The guest contacted us and clearly the room was not presented correctly . He understood that he would stay in a cottage but instead had been allocated a single guest room. This is most unfortunate but sadly we were fully booked and could not offer an alternative.
I liked everything, the staff was great, the food was very good, the room was excellent (especially the bath tub), the safari was lots of fun, (especially touching the elephants), the gift shop was great too. Most of all though I liked the Wild at Heart setting.

The house keeper was very nice and helpfull. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. But the manager gave us a different feeling, he never made us feel welcome over the phone and did not have good customer service skills.

Disappointing Stay at La Bastide
The room was not as advertised on the website, the door handles were an issue. There was no television, or iron so the creature comforts not there, I was lead to believe that you could braai but then I was told the braai stands were only exclusive to the cottages, and we did not need a cottage as it was just the two of us. Not all the lights in the room were working. The cushions ofr the outside chairs were dirty.

It is regretful that the guest did not enjoy his/her stay. We do attempt to make each guest experience special. Certain of the guest`s expectations are not advertised as being available and unfortunately we were not able to accommodate certain needs such as a braai facility. We have taken note of the criticisms.
My girlfriend and I were attending an afternoon wedding in the area and this place looked perfect. We contacted the host to find out if we could check in earlier and he had no problem with that. The place is very well looked after with a lovely garden. The room was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend staying here.

It was not so good, they claimed I changed my booking from Friday to Saturday, which I did not do... I sent email to clarify that but they did not respond till I got to the venue on Friday and no one was there, when the male owner eventually answered he said he was in joburg and there is no one at the lodge as they were not expecting me because "I changed my booking" so I had to find alternative place to sleep for the Friday and came back to check in Saturday, I was already upset and my trip was ruined I didn't even sleep nor stay there for that Saturday even because of this Inconvenience and "confusion" as they put it on email...If they insist that I "changed" my booking let them show me that proof.

It is indeed concerning that La Bastide should receive a negative review. The guest arrived at 22:45. Check in times are between 14:00 and 18:00 unless alternative arrangements are made. The booking system is an electronic one which can be operated by agents and the general public. The guest was met early on the Saturday morning and was escorted to the room . The guest vacated the room early in the afternoon ; no reason was given.
