It was quiet when I visited but there are a few restaurants/dining options a short distance from the property. There's also a lot of historical information around the town if you have time.

"This cottage was perfect for our walking on Hadrians walk..Great location, Dog friendly, clean and comfortable. We could have just done with some milk in the fridge, but there is a supermarket in Haltwistle 10 minutes drive away if you forget anything. Great little enclosed garden for star gazing! ..."

The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Manor House Inn on the high road served some lovely food and excellent real ale. I really don't know why the Romans ever left !!
