Kanishka, the night duty manager was great in assisting us with a smooth checkout. He even assisted when the room device were slow and introduced us to Dinku in the travel desk to take us to kamakhya temple as we didn’t know much coming from London. Dinku made sure of taking care of us during our journey to kamakhya and airport while going back to London. Absolutely brilliant set of people who made us love the experience. We’ll come back again and refer our friends too!

I stayed in same hotel 2 years again at that time hotel was kept clean and staff were very well trained .
This time I am really disappointed because property is not well kept , bathroom grout are having black mold , hallway smells , room floors have stains , room carpet have dust , Ac vent is fill with dust . I also did SPA this time and it was very bad experience as well ! once again untrained staff, not keeping up with the standard , floor of spa is peeling off ...

The restaurant staff is excellent and they made the stay really comfortable.
But here are a few problems:
I am not sure about the phone numbers of Novotel, Guwahati because people rarely answer it. Especially before traveling to Guwahati, I called the hotel to check on taxi services, and the lasy who answered said a singer had passed away and therefore they don't have taxi services. When I asked, how much would it cost to get there from the airport, she said she will transfer to a senior, and the phone got cut. After which I made innumerable calls, and NO ONE answered. I think it's basic that people answer the phone and give the required information to the people who are coming from other places to Guwahati.
The second problem was that after changing two rooms, the air conditioner did not work. There was no cooling and of course no other source of ventilation. The hotel needs to fix it.
Baaring this, the restaurant staff was very considerate and helpful. I wouldn't say the same about the reception staff, their interaction is not one of care or concern.

Terrible stay at a 5- star
My stay at Novotel Guwahati GS Road fell far short of the 5-star standard, with persistent hygiene and maintenance issues that made the experience deeply disappointing.
From the moment I arrived, the front lobby carpet was visibly dirty, setting a concerning tone. The reception desk was covered in stains and scratches, hardly befitting a premium hotel. In my initial room, the linens were dirty and stained, and the countertops were similarly marked. After raising the issue, the staff moved me to a different room, which was better overall, but the linens remained a problem—multiple sheets had visible stains despite appearing washed, pointing to a serious lapse in housekeeping. Additionally, the bathroom door in the new room didn’t lock, compromising privacy and adding to the frustration. Resolving these issues took significant time and effort, and we eventually settled for what was provided, but the experience was far from acceptable.
The glowing online reviews seem disconnected from reality, raising doubts about their authenticity. This hotel lacks the basic cleanliness and maintenance expected of a 5-star property. I urge future guests to inspect their rooms thoroughly and caution against expecting the luxury promised by the rating. Management must address these issues urgently.

For the price of this hotel things should have been better. We stayed for 2 nights and were never able to get more than one English language channel on the television. The "engineer" came to our room twice and spoke to someone on his phone, asking us specifically what channels we wanted, one by one, and still we only got BBC World News.... eventually. International hotels in this price range always include a basic English language package to include plenty of news and entertainment. Overall, the quality and standard of this hotel has gone down in the last several years. The Taj Vivanta is almost the same price so we will be staying there on our next visit.
