"Excellent colonial-style building with incredible natural surroundings, but the hotel looks neglected. The room was nice and spacious, but the bathroom smelled awful, like a sewer. I had to buy bleach and use it, but it didn't get rid of the smell. There was a leak in the sink and mold between the tiles and under the sink. I had to report it at the front desk, and they only provided one towel under after inspection. Also, the rooms didn't have air conditioning, and with the mosquitos, we couldn't open the windows. Honestly, it's a nice place, but it needs renovations asap. Otherwise, the staff's attention was very good, the restaurant had good service, typical Costa Rican food, the prices were somewhat high compared to the quality and quantity."

"What a treasure in Hotel Villa Zurqui. We were a group of 12 staying 1 night before heading north. Quaint is the operative word! The grounds are gorgeous with a large variety of plants and flowers. The food was very tasty as well. No a/c was concerning, but the fans in the rooms and the cool night made for a comfortable sleep. I recommend staying here!"

"This property is VERY unique!! It is quite an experience, even just to stay a night, but I would recommend at least 2-3 nights minimum to explore the options they have available. I picked this as a sort of halfway point to stay 1 night between SJO & Puerto Viejo, on the Caribbean coast. But it was a phenomenal experience & we wished we had booked at least 1 more night, if not more. The cabins are very secluded, but well maintained. The grounds are extensive and amazing!! The staff are unbelievably helpful & friendly too!! The only downside is that you absolutely need 4x4 to get there. Donā€™t believe the people that say you donā€™t need it. You need to drive up & down steep grades that do get rushing water over them, not only to location, but also to your cabin. The only sounds were birds & frogs & water - it was pure nature to be easily enjoyed from the patio of your cabin. Hammock, sitting chairs w/ fire pit, glass encased cabins, open air rain faucet showers, open air dining & reception, immaculate grounds with animalsā€¦ just amazing! It was a bit too rainy for us to walk down to the natural spring pools, but waterfalls galore! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Gracias!! Food & drinks were amazing as well! FRESH!!! 4x4 and guts to get you there, but the rest is heaven! So many thanks to our staff!! (Get whatsapp for CR, period btw! You need it.)"

"The staff at this hotel are nothing short of incredible. They go out of their way to make sure their guests are comfortable and taken care of. We did all the tours with their partner Tuanis Tours and found the guides knowledgeable and fun. All the tours went on a little longer because the guides were determined to make sure we saw all animals possible. They even made the tours enjoyable the few times we got caught in the rain. The hotel was also super accommodating and helpful when a storm changed our return travel plans. Also the location is prime, the hangout space by the beach so tranquil. And itā€™s really great value for the price. Highly recommend booking and using them to organize all your time in Tortuguero"
