Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The building in general seemed run down, but the actual room was in fair decorative condition. The furniture was nice and the room was very clean and warm. The staff were very pleasant. The overall experience was fine and reflected the budget price.
Staff were very friendly and efficient. Room was well equiped with tea, coffee, biscuits etc. At midnight we couldn’t get to sleep in room 5 as a dog was constantly barking in the kennels at the Police office outside our room. Colin at reception immediately moved my wife and I to the opposite side of the hotel and all was well. Hotel was clean, warm and tidy and we enjoyed the continental breakfast in the morning which there was plenty to choose from. I would certainly recommend it as it is very central and only 100 meters from the front promenade and very near to where the cruise liners are docked.
Check in clerk was very friendly and helpful. No issues with cleanliness. Deluxe room was a decent size and comfy. No complaints at all

Not great
I wouldn't stay again as I didn't feel totally safe as a solo female traveller. Very friendly staff which was nice. Breakfast poor.

The room was clean, the staff were great and friendly. We had booked the compact room which was okay for a one night stay. Had all the necessary facilities. Great shower. Receptionist informed us that there was a jam session on that night and we managed it for a short while before we had to go as in Greenock for a family celebration. Continental breakfast was included in the price but a hot breakfast could be purchased. Excellent hotel for the price.
Great hotel for the price, has everyone you need & close to local pubs/bars and public transport! Would recommend and will be staying again in future

Comfortable room and polite staff
Comfortable room with tea +coffee facilities, nice breakfast. Staff were welcoming and helpful. We didn't see much of the neighbourhood as it was dark when we arrived and very foggy when we left but it looked ok

No probs.
My room could have done with a wardrobe but apart from that it was fine.
I Booked bed and breakfast and on arriving was told it would only be a continental breakfast as they had no staff to cook breakfast. The continental was horrible.no cheese no ham just.dry bread.cereal where terrible.Arrived at 1pm asked if we could geg our room early, told it would be £25.or could wait and maybe get us in before 3pm.at 2.55 they let me check in even though my room was ready at 1pm.The hotel needs up dating having an extension lead in a bedroom in this day and age is shocking.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely white towels in room. A continental breakfast was available. The room we had was rather small and so was the bed. I think it should be used as a single room, but for 2 nights we managed. The lift in hotel seemed to be out of order, and there are about 20 steps to first floor. Near harbour with a Lidl store 2 minute walk. A 10 minute walk to shopping mall and town centre. Had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend. Weather was also a bonus
The place is really old, falling apart and unkept. Things are really in a terrible condition such as broken shower head, mouldy bathroom seals, leaking radiators, taped up wall sockets, cables and wires hanging out, old musty and dirty carpets, stained beds with cheap mattresses. The breakfast was not cooked, it consisted of a paper bag left outside the door containing croissant, pan au chocolat, yoghurt and a juice all from lidl. The people working there were nice but that was the only redeeming quality.
Firstly, I would say that without exception, each member of staff I encountered was polite, friendly and went above and beyond what I expected to help me. I made this booking very last minute due to cancellation of my forward travel. I had my bike with me and the staff put it in their store room over night.
There was a band on I think in the bar below and the music went on very late and was incredibly loud in my room. In the evening I couldn't get any hot water from the sink, but as the shower seemed hot I decided not to bother anyone as I was already dressed for bed after a super long day. By morning, I was sweaty (maybe there was a plastic cover on the mattress?), I'd struggled to sleep due to a combination of feeling alternately hot and cold all night in my very soft bed, and the huge sound bleed from the bar and other rooms. All I wanted was a shower. The water was freezing. I ran it for ten minutes then gave up.
I had high hopes for my continental breakfast which actually turned out to be a stale croissant and some pre packaged orange juice with a yoghurt (I'm dairy free) in a paper bag, left outside the room.
I decided to cut my losses at around 9am. I couldn't find any staff, no one answered the door bell, no one answered the reception phone number so eventually I had to ring the number for the manager. She was ever so polite but had clearly been asleep and she had to call someone else to bring my bike so I could finally leave. I won't be back.
Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff.
Small adjustments will bring about big improvements.
A bargain for the price and would definitely book this hotel again.
