"I highly recommend this hotel as an anchor stay for exploring the Bar Harbor area (Mount Desert Island) and the north-eastern coast of Maine. Compare with the hotels in Bar Harbor, tourists in the Ellsworth area are not locked into the expensive and busy shops in the small town. Though Colonial Inn is not the scale as those hotel chains, its management is highly efficient. The rooms are generally larger and cleaner. Utilities and furniture inside are in good conditions. Last but not least, I spent way less than those hotels of the same level in Bar Harbor area."

Parking garage was a little tricky with tight spaces but it worked."

"10/10 – Wonderful Stay! Highly Recommend! We visited during peak fall season, and despite the hotel being completely booked, we were pleasantly surprised by how peaceful and quiet it was! Our room was exceptionally clean and cozy, and we slept better here than at any hotel we’ve stayed at recently. The on-site restaurant was excellent! I highly recommend the breakfast buffet or enjoying a quiet dinner. With temperatures in the mid-60s to low 70s, we even enjoyed the pool and hot tub! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the hotel also offers convenient on-site washers and dryers and a clean fitness room. My favorite part was the location! Easy access to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor without being right in the middle of all the noise and crowds."
