Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn

"We had to kill a spider in our room, there was not TV listing guide in the room, the pool which should have been open, was not open, they were short staff so only one person working the front desk who worked to 11pm and back in the next morning at 7am and you could tell by the service, she was very tired, the air conditioner unit was not keeping the correct temperature, the signage was not easiley seen- if it wasn't for our GPS, we would have totally missed it. The pillows could have been firmer so we could sit up in bed to watch TV. We ended up moving to the couch which was very uncomfortable and very dated. It wasn't the worst experience but the Hampton would have been a better option."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Highlander Mountain House .. with a few caveats. First the good: The staff were friendly and helpful, the location is ideal - right in the heart of downtown easily walkable to many shops and restaurants. The room was attractive with soft linens and quality toiletries. However, the room was very small, and as such it didn't feel like the owners utilized the space efficiently. The nightstand space on each side of the bed was decorated with snacks (for purchase), coffee accoutrements, books, records, record players, games, etc. While all of these were thoughtful touches and useful for entertainment purposes, it left no real place to put anything. There were no additional shelves or tables that could be used to place items other than the floor. A small luggage rack was provided which can accomodate one suitcase. It then became piled with all our other belongings because I didn't want to put my purses, coat, jewelry box etc on the floor. Even if we had chosen to use the provided record player, there isn't really anywhere to place it in usable position besides the bed. I would still stay here again, but it would be nice if there were less entertainments in the room and more useable space."

"The rooms were small, but reasonably clean. There was a public hair on the tub, but otherwise looked clean. We requested an extra towel since there were 3 of us, and that seemed to be a challenge for the staff. The front staff told my husband to ask the housekeeper for a towel, the housekeeper demanded the dirty towels first, so we had to request another extra towel the next evening, it took a while to get it. My husband found some paraphernalia under a chair and near a drink machine, and we reported it to the staff. The rooms were not very sound proof, and we had noisy neighbors…. All in all, not a great experience. The front staff was polite though."
