Check in was courteous and efficient, room spacious and clean, with good temperature control for cold weather at least, breakfast well worth it. Excellent facilities gym, pool bar and restaurant. Restaurant had excellent dinner menu and food was top notch.

The hotel staff, whether cleaners or those in Reception or the lounge bar, were very friendly and helpful. We liked the food provided, and found our room comfortable and quiet. We will definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises.

Stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary having been married in the hotel 8 years ago. Still a great place to visit, some areas are a little tired and would benefit from some TLC but on the whole we had a great 3 night stay. Bar service was great, comfortable setting. Fantastic grounds. Great pool and spa. Restaurant great food, a little pricey but can’t complain too much. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

A comfortable stay

Lovely big room with two comfortable armchairs. Very quiet, despite the fact that there was a wedding reception elsewhere in the hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good.

Every member of staff we met was fantastic, warm friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. The dinner menu wasn’t great and was very overpriced for what you got and the taste didn’t quite match up to the prices. Beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel and excellent treatments in the spa

Lovely hotel

The hotel staff at reception were lovely ! The kids loved the swimming pool, but the hotel is definetly due a little bit of an upgrade ! But we will definetly stay again lovely hotel .

Clean room. Wonderful staff. Great location. Hotel is a bit rundown overall. Good breakfast. Guyson reception were lovely. No ice in the bar was a bit of a letdown. And the broken gutter made a noise all night.

The hotel has a lovely drive and gardens as you approach. The hotel bedrooms are very dated and worn, we had to have our room moved due to a constant buzzing noise from hotel kitchen. Staff are lovely but until the hotel was refurbished we would not stay again. Worn carpets, curtains and broken tiles in the bathroom in both of the rooms we tried. Corridors also need some new decoration. The food was OK, we ate in the bar area as the dinning room looked a lonely place with only 1 other table eating. Breakfast was nice. Spa was OK, we did not stay long in the pool as there was a kids swimming lesson on and with the roped off area it was too busy to properly swim. Sauna was good but the steam room lacked steam. Easy to park.

Overall, a pleasant stay whilst in town on business. Pool and gym are very useful and adequate. Customer service is as expected. Wifi signal is poor and requires major revision, barely working at the best of times. Expect to hot spot from your phone, with your phone on the window cill if you need to work from your room. The bed is super comfy, great nights sleep! Bathroom is a tad battered and decor is dated however shower is brilliant and absolutely makes up for the cracked tiles. Ceilings in areas are peeling with plaster skim visible in various locations. Ceiling in pool requires attention with paint flaking from the metal roof framework and underside of roof. TVs have HDMI inputs for connectivity which is a major bonus if you have a console or firestick.
