Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well organised. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Vakhsh holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, pack in your passport, travel docs, cash and vital medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a tablet crammed with your favourite movies are some great options. If you plan to catch forty winks, a neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a few toiletry items to ensure you touchdown feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, fuel and fireworks. Sporting equipment like hockey sticks, and objects that could harm other people, such as guns and swords, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of a plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a sweater as the temperature can drop in the cabin on long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are also a sensible choice.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-distance travel is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, make the most of every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are another easy way to help reduce this risk.
