wilpattu Tree House

"Possibly the best hotel stay I've ever had. The room was comfortable, with wonderful views - from our balcony we could see elephants. It's in the perfect location, right at the entrance to the national park (hence the view!). The food was delicious. What really sets the place apart, though, is the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful, with special thanks to Sampath for taking us to the water so we could see the wildlife, and for going above and beyond with food and drink. We were even offered free use of the showers, tea and snacks after returning from our safari to collect luggage, having already checked out. I can't speak highly enough of everyone there and would recommend the hotel to anyone planning a trip to the national park"

Taru Villas Villu - Willpattu

Taru Villas Villu - Willpattu

10/10 Excellent
"Where do we even begin โ€” Taru Villas Vilu was one of those rare stays that exceeded every expectation. The hospitality is truly world-class, thanks to an incredible team, especially our butler Kalum and safari guide Sam, who made our holiday one weโ€™ll never forget. Sam captured our beautiful sunset mangrove picnic ending a perfect first day on a private beach with tea and snacks set up just for us. Kalum attended to our every need with warmth and care, while Samโ€™s sharp eye made our two half day safaris at Wilpattu National Park unforgettable. Highlights included crocodiles, deer, mongooses, countless birds and a stunning female leopard lazing in a tree. Pure magic! The food was exceptional โ€” the Sri Lankan curries, hoppers, their seafood BBQ, every dish a chefโ€™s kiss. Spice levels were graciously adjusted for me, and we loved enjoying a bottle from their lovely wine menu each evening at dinner. Our villa with private pool was spectacular, and with only a small number of villas on the property, privacy and tranquility are guaranteed. R&R at its best! The team even surprised us with an anniversary cake, a small touch that meant so much. Practical tips: A full-day safari is more cost-effective than splitting across two days as the park entrance fee applies each visit. Also bring cash for tips - no ATMs in the area, and the staff truly deserve it! Highly recommend staying at least 3 nights. Easily some of the best hospitality weโ€™ve experienced anywhere in the world."

Big Game - Wilpattu by Eco Team

"I stayed only one night but wished I stayed an extra one. The staff were so accommodating and extremely friendly. I really loved the afternoon walk around the village where I saw my first elephant of my Sri Lankan trip and evening walk around the gardens looking at the nocturnal animals. I would highly recommend staying here!!"

Roshanne Beach Resort

Roshanne Beach Resort

10/10 Excellent
"Lovely quiet setting, a cluster of very stylish bungalows set amongst palm trees a couple of minutes walk from the beach. Each bungalow had an outside seating area with built-in benches with foam cushions for relaxation/reading etc. Planting around this space added to the overall look. There was a large open air restaurant: tables and chairs under a traditional-style roof. Staff were attentive, the food was really good - big portions and the Sri Lankan breakfast was fabulous. The room and bathroom were really clean Comfy bed. Air con - which could be set to fan only too. Shower was good. WiFi good at the room but especially good in the restaurant area Clean and well kept infinity pool with a handful of sun loungers. Staff happy to help organise transit to the station A lovely spot to spend some lazy days. Negative A minor thing... The restaurant (which was a bit too basic in decoration) would benefit from some background chill-out music, and a few decorative outdoor garland lights plus some Sri Lankan traditional craft accessories on the kitchen wall."

De Silva Palm Resort

De Silva Palm Resort

10/10 Excellent
"My experience at De Silva was excellent from start to finish, largely because of the people who run it so thoughtfully. Before arriving, Andrea was consistently quick to respond to emails, answering questions clearly and thoroughly. Once at the resort, the same professionalism and warmth carried through across every area. I didnโ€™t get everyoneโ€™s names and all the staff deserve credit for being welcoming and attentive; from the accommodation (Nalika and Nirosha) to dining - Naveen took extra care at all mealtimes, always checking everything was right and happily accommodating requests. Viraj and others also contributed to this consistently high standard of service โ€” the whole team worked seamlessly and with genuine care. The bar, wellness, and activity side of the resort is also a real highlight. Umesh is approachable and full of ideas, clearly passionate about wellness and generous with his time and advice. Priyantha at the bar adds to the experience. The massage treatments from Samantha were excellent โ€” deeply relaxing and very professionally delivered. Finally, the wind sports team is outstanding. Led by Baba, along with Sachin and the wider crew have a genuine focus on helping guests progress, the instruction feels both personal and encouraging. Whether through structured lessons or quick, well-timed tips spotted from the beach or on the water, their advice made a noticeable difference to my kiting. The whole team are supportive and knowledgeable."
