Cozy house and clean. Could probably improve on soundproofing the rooms as we could hear snoring and murmuring from other rooms at night. Some guest tends to overuse the kitchen for heavy meals and we had to wait for our turn. However we do loved our stay and it has a very nice view from my room - I could see faint aurora. Would come back again!

This guesthouse was within walking distance of a pleasant diner, close to gas stations and easily accessible. The property is well maintained and spotless. The rooms have adequate space and there are common areas and kitchen privileges.

Everything was perfect, except could’ve used better black out curtains for summer midnight sun months. But great comfy spot.

Biggest issue was soap dispensers in every shared water closets were empty. We stayed two nights and never addressed. Room very small with sloped ceilings where we bumped our heads numerous times reaching for items on nightstands. Rug in room curled up on corner which caused tripping.

Great little guesthouse
Very clean. Comfortable bed but as I have wished all throughout Iceland it sure would be nice to have an extra pillow or two in the room. Next trip I am definitely bringing my own pillow!! Watch as you use their unique folding shower. If you take a normal bath the water piles up and doesn’t drain and the water will end up all over the bathroom floor! Found this out too late. Interesting concept in design but not intended for normal water use I don’t think. Over all a lovely place and we loved the town also. Would recommend a trip over the mountain to Seydisfjordur. It is wild.

Nothing around one dinner and a restaurant that did not open. Bathroom smell, room very small for two person. No one to check you in or out. It’s worth more of your money to stay at the hotel. Will not stay there again.

We hope you have a good day and would like to point out to other guests -so its not confusing that we do not have restaurant in our guesthouse but there are many restaurants in Egilsstaðir at least eight great restaurants in short walking distance from our guesthouse :)

Convenient Guesthouse
This was quite a good Guesthouse compared to others in Iceland! We received check in instructions the day before arrival and had no issues checking in/out. If you chose the breakfast option, you’re given a voucher for a diner up the road (literally less than a minute drive) which had a decent selection for breakfast. There were also lots of places nearby for dinner. The only thing that was slightly annoying were the bedroom curtains as they let in (what felt like) a fair bit of light which made sleeping a bit difficult when the sun doesn’t really set until 11pm at night - this could just be something we aren’t used to not being from Iceland but we found other places we stayed in Iceland did have better curtains. Either way, still a great place to stay for the price :)

Great Guesthouse!!
Very cozy, confortable and clean... Very close to restaurant and Cafe....full stocked kitchen. they even had a booklet with info about the area and different things that can be done.... Check in was very easy, received and email with all the necessary details.

We had a private room and bathroom separate to the main building but had access to the kitchen to cook. The room and bathroom were big and clean. However our room was right beside the road and can get quite noisy sometimes. Apart from that, absolutely loved our stay

Reasonibly priced near SFO
The hotel had free parking and breakfast. I needed a cheap hotel near the SFO so I could pickup a friend and this hotel worked perfectly.

We stayed in one of the lovely Annex rooms. It is spacious and has a private bathroom, a table with 2 chairs, a fridge, a microwave, a kettle and tea bags and a coffee maker with coffee inserts. We were very comfortable there. There was a kitchen in the main house for everyone to use. We arrived early and there was a buzzer next to the door that allowed us to contact Cleo’s cell phone. She let us come into the main house to have a coffee and tea while we waited for her to arrive. She was very welcoming. The location was great, right across from a Reindeer museum and near everything. Thank you for a great stay.

Loved this cute place. The host was very friendly and welcoming. He took the time to show us around and explained the rules. Location was within walking distance of anything you needed. Breakfast was provided and was the best of any place we stayed in Iceland. Wish we had longer to stay here.

Homey atmosphere in quiet neighborhood
One of my favorite stops around the ring round. Very homelike, surrounded by trees and birds. Staff very helpful. Within walking distance to cafe Nielsen and other eateries.

Great place to stay in Egilsstadir!
Birta Guesthouse was great! The owners were super friendly! They were there when we arrived to check in and live close by. They showed us around the property and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was a good size with lots of windows. Everything was clean and cozy. Full kitchen facilities with any kitchenware you might need along with complimentary coffee/tea. We only stayed one night, but this would be the perfect place to stay if you’re planning to spend a few days in the area.

Good enough for us
Easy to find even without wifi. Check in was easy and our host came very quickly and was a very relaxed, helpful and pleasant man. We only used the place as a sleep-over but it suited us well. Bed is firm, shower is hot and doesn’t run out, kitchen is big and well equipped so all was good.

We would definitely stay here again!
We had a great stay at Birta Guesthouse! Convenient location while traveling the ring road and there are a couple of grocery stores down the street. The room was very clean and there were 3 bathrooms in the house -so it wasn’t a problem sharing with the other guests. There’s also a small kitchen with a microwave so we could heat up food. Friendly owner gave us tips for our trip and had maps of the area.

Comfortable and clean place
Birta Guesthouse was clean and comfortable place. The beds were comfortable. There is an oven and cooking oil and condiments to cook with. Shower was nice and hot. Wifi was pretty fast.

Great hotel with everything you need
Birta has all the ammentities that are needed to be comfortable during your stay. The owner was able to provide us with directions on how to find the northern lights - which we were able to see on our last day!! Very happy with our booking.

Das Zimmer war ausreichen groß und gut ausgestattet. Die Küche war gleichzeitig Aufenthaltsraum in ausreichender Größe. Zwei Bäder mit sehr guter Ausstattung.
