Emerald Luxe Suites
10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful stay at Emerald Luxe Suites on our way from Big Corn Island to Little corn island. Great quality/price ratio, exceptional clean, everything felt spotless and very well maintained. The room was also incredibly comfortable and quiet, making it easy to relax after a long travel day. The neighborhood felt very safe. I also want to highlight Shane, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. His warm attitude truly made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for comfort, cleanliness, and great service. Mariela H Costa Rica."

"Rustic but right on the ocean. Not too far from town. Good value."

Mama Lola Bed and Breakfast

"Beautiful ocean view and quite breezy"

Yemaya Reefs, a Small Luxury Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We got the delux room with the ocean view and private pool. It was to celebrate my 40th birthday and the perfect choice. The accommodations felt like a true paradise. The grounds were well kept. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food and beverages were outstanding. The room service the following day was true luxury with hot tea waiting for us after a day exploring the beaches. I recommend spending in spending extra on the transportation from Big Corn Island Airport. I love the offerings; we got to go snorkeling."

Maquenque Lodge

"Magical place, giving the full jungle experience. "

La Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge
6/10 Okay
"We expected much more from this place, but of the five lodges we visited, this was the worst. Regarding the accommodation, we realized that the door could be opened with just a slight push, without even turning the handle, meaning anyone could enter the room even when the handle was locked. Furthermore, there was no water pressure for the shower, and the water had to be heated by a small heater built into the showerhead, but this gadget clearly didn't allow for temperature control; the water was either freezing cold or scalding hot. The room contained only two beds and a bedside table; there was no desk or table with a chair to set up a laptop and edit photos at the end of the day. As for activities, the only real draw of this place is birdwatching or photography, as there's nothing else to do in the area. We would have expected all the perches to be stocked with fruit and the hummingbird feeders to be full, but only one of the many perches had food, and the hummingbird feeders were all empty and were never refilled during our visit. They seemed more interested in selling us expensive paid tours: king vultures $75/person, macro with snakes and frogs $50/person, hummingbirds $65/person, small birds $30/person, bats $65/person. There are trails on the property, but they are not suitable for regular hiking boots and are extremely muddy; rubber boots are absolutely necessary. Considering the price of the overnight stays, we would have expected a little more from this place."
