"Firstly, I rarely review any business good or bad, but Hotel Palmas de Cortez was simply appalling. When checking in, the woman at the front desk would only cut us one key card for the room for 3 people. She said come back tomorrow if you want more. She was incredibly rude. When we got to the room, it was a dump. We had a Presidential suite and it was anything but! It was so run down and disgusting we went back to the front desk and asked for another room. We were subsequently shown room that was covered in more dust, had dead insects on the window sills, stunk of mold and didn't look as if it had been cleaned in months! We eventually stayed in the original room as we had no choice. We went out and bought cleaning products from the local supermarket and cleaned the room ourselves to where it was livable. Housekeeping only made the bed and folded the used towels. I deliberately left dust on one of the sofa arms to see if housekeeping would wipe it off during the 6 nights we were there - it was not! The overall hotel is tired and desperately in need of a facelift and someone who cares about the property. The restaurants on site were terrible however the staff at least were pleasant and helpful. The pool bar doesn't serve food - you have to get takeout! The gym was disgracefully filthy - couldn't use it! We've stayed at many properties in Mexico, some good, some bad, but nothing like this! The website portrays the hotel as something entirely different to reality. Stay away!"

"A slight ocean view. Room was clean. The staff very courteous. This is not a hotel for everybody. The area is remote on a gravel, washboard road so it’s not for everybody. We enjoyed it though! We saw lots and lots of whales. Took a tour of the reef! Which was super! "

"The property is not new so if you are looking for something luxurious you may be disappointed. The food, staff, and atmosphere were amazing. Very relaxing. "

Dinner took 55 minutes to arrive (from when we sat down), and we had to go request menus ourselves, two different people took our (same) order. At breakfast, three different people took our order, and it still took me four requests to get water. My husband's coffee came after only the second time he ordered it. Everyone was very nice, but we cannot recommend eating here."

"Staff were wonderful, very helpful and courtesy. The food is devine. Actually, the entire place is definitely a 10 out of 10. Worth the drive down a long dusty road. We watched whales, pelicans, frigate birds and even the Great Egret .. all during breafast, kunch and dinner."
