Good basic hotel . Good city location . Great walking distance to the octagon & train station . Decent continental breakfast . Pleasant staff .The parking lot is a joke . Which being in the city is sometimes the case .we paid the extra $15 for better parking as we had a full size vehicle . We were afraid of getting blocked in otherwise . If you arrive early in the day & have a small car you may luck out & have a spot to park .

The room was great, as was the location. Pity the bar and restaurant are no longer functioning. Breakfasts were great though. Wifi can be inconsistent. But Kingsgate is still our preferred stopover in Dunedin.
