"Coming from the US and having heard all kinds of stories about SA, I will say this property is very safe and secure, with (free) gated parking. I had a 2 bedroom apartment that was very spacious and had a patio area and kitchen. It was enormous. The staff are very courteous and helpful, and eager to share all the great things Stellenbosch has to offer. Laundry service is a plus and so is the location—walkable to any number of great restaurants and cafes. Great value as well. Highly recommended."

"Only problem is they don’t serve dinner, but there are walkable options. Nice pool and spa but gym is very basic and in need of an upgrade. Rooms are really nice. "

"I could definitely recommend this hotel. The hotel is new so everything is fresh and clean. The host was fantastic!! She was so nice and did everything to make our stay memorable. The breakfast is also good! Apparently they have both cold and warm (made to order) breakfast but we only eat the cold because it was more than enough. We had a room upstairs with a big terrace overlooking the pool area. I have only good things to say about this hotel and especially the host in the dark-brown hair that...

"Fantastic place. My only regret is not having more time to spend here.
Short walk to the botanical gardens (down the block). One block further are plenty of dining options.
The breakfast is solid."

"The kitchen had this terrible stench - turned out the kitchen sink tubes were leaking odours into the kitchen. Although it was “my kitchen” people helped themselves to stuff. Bedroom was very basic, dated furniture, etc. it was cheap but yeah - I guess one gets what one pays for. And one more thing - when I got there at the main address (there are two guesthouses) nobody opened the gate for some time. I had to get the help of another tourist and when I finally made it to reception the excuses...

Bonne Esperance Boutique Guest House and Studio Apartments
10/10 Excellent
"A lovely room with modern, interesting decor. Everything needed was provided e.g. teas, coffees etc.
Reception was incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough for you
Breakfast was incredible! All ordered from a menu, but a very wide range of choices, and the ability to have whatever you'd like (French toast is to die for!)
Location is brilliant as well - a seven minute walk to all the main restaurants in town!
The only complaint is their strict cancellations policy. We had to reshuffle our whole holiday by three days due to my husband's work, and this was the only hotel out of seven across Cape Town and the Garden Route that didn't refund us at all, despite weeks of notice. This was a shame, but the hotel is lovely nonetheless. "
"My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at Coopmanhuijs while in Stellenbosch. It was fantastic! The staff was super friendly and acommodating. The restaurant was outstanding. Our reservation included breakfast and we were able to order off of a menu and/or opt for the generous buffet. We also ate dinner at the restuarant and it was beyond delicious. (Springbok carpaccio!) We don't usually relax in common hotel spaces, but everyone was so welcoming that we did spend some time in the lounge by the fire. We met some other guests who were super interesting, and I felt like I learned a lot about South Africa culture as well. Thank you for a lovely stay!"
