"A family of 4, we had 2 rooms. Owners were faultless throughout our too-short stay! Breakfast was fantastic, plenty choice, freshly cooked options and self-serve cereal, fruit etc. Comfortable beds, beautiful setting and interior. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again"

"Our room was excellent very quiet with lovely comfortable bed, nice bed linen, towels and plenty of tea&coffee etc. Breakfast was delicious. We ate evening meals at the hotel which were homemade and great quality and reasonable price. New owners have taken over hotel just over 2 mths ago and we found them to be very friendly, welcoming and hard working. They're improving the hotel with new decor and have great attention to detail so I'm sure once finished it will be amazing. It's location is great with some fantastic walks and bus on your doorstep. We hope to return next time we are in the Lakes and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel."

Keswick Country House Hotel

"The room was clean, but overall the hotel felt dated and in need of refurbishment. There was noticeable wear and damage to the skirting boards and furnishings, and the same could be said for the third-floor corridors and the lift. While the bathroom was in slightly better condition, it still felt tired and could do with updating. There was also no fridge in the room. The walls were extremely thin, meaning noise from neighbouring rooms carried very easily. I’m not usually a light sleeper, but I can imagine this would be a significant issue for many guests. The bar area looked pleasant enough, although I didn’t use it myself. I also chose not to have breakfast, as the additional £18 per day for my two-night stay felt overpriced. On the positive side, the location is very good - it’s only a short walk into the town centre, with two lovely parks nearby. There’s also a scenic walk to Threlkeld along the converted railway line, which starts near the leisure centre just a couple of minutes away. The route is around 6.4 miles there and back. Overall, I feel I would have been better off spending a little extra to stay somewhere of a higher standard. Even a Premier Inn would likely have been an improvement. The main advantage of the Keswick Country House Hotel was the included on-site parking."

"Clean room - good size although rather dated. Bathroom needs updating and shower door did not close properly. Really good breakfast and evening meal. Service staff at breakfast were excellent, helpful (plenty of tips as to where to visit), and exceptionally friendly. Evening wait-on staff - one young lady was extremely attentive although the other one was less so. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the external of the building needs a lot of investment. However all in all the stay which we booked through Hotel.com was reasonably priced and overall we enjoyed our peaceful stay."
