"This hotel easily earns an 8 out of 10. I didn’t rate it a perfect score because, while the grounds, rooms, and staff were truly exceptional—kind, attentive, and accommodating—the food was a major letdown. And not just slightly disappointing—I mean genuinely bad. To make matters worse, the food was also quite expensive, which made the experience even more frustrating.
If you stay here, I’d recommend planning to go into town for meals. I gave the food three separate chances, hoping it would improve, but each experience fell short. Even something as simple as French fries missed the mark. A skilled local chef could make a huge difference, especially since the food we had elsewhere on the mainland was consistently excellent.
That said, everything else about the stay was wonderful. The staff were some of the warmest and friendliest people I’ve ever encountered, the rooms and views were absolutely breathtaking, and it ended up being one of the most relaxing vacations I’ve ever taken. Placencia is truly a hidden gem, and I’m already looking forward to coming back."
