"We absolutely loved the White Horse Inn. It’s chic and elegant, but also deeply authentic and connected to the history of St. Wolfgang. The hotel has nearly 500 years of history, with paintings, photographs and little references to its past throughout. It really feels like a destination hotel and part of the history of the area.
There are so many little things that make it feel special and upscale without being too stuffy. We loved the live piano at breakfast on Saturday, the pools and saunas, the boutique-resort feel, and of course the breathtaking beauty of the lake and mountains.
One note for American travelers: Austrian service can feel more reserved and less overtly accommodating than what we’re used to in the US. Once we adjusted to that cultural difference, it felt very much part of the experience — professional and traditional rather than overly solicitous.
One tip: rooms with AC are the more recently updated rooms, so I’d choose one of those if you prefer a more contemporary room.
Such a beautiful, memorable place — luxurious, full of character, and completely unique to St. Wolfgang."
