The Church of St. George is one of eleven monolithic churches in Lalibela.

Carved from solid red volcanic rock in the 12th century, it is the most well known and last built of the eleven churches in the Lalibela area, and has been referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”.

Lalibela, King of Ethiopia, sought to recreate Jerusalem, and structured the churches landscape and religious sites in such a way as to achieve such a feat. The churches at Lalibela are clustered in two major groups, one representing the earthly Jerusalem, and the other representing the heavenly Jerusalem. Located directly between them is a trench representing the River Jordan.

"One of the staff stole my shirt.. I checked in at this hotel expecting the receive fairly okay service but turned out to be bad experience, due to the loud music and the staffs seems to not care about customers. Only one staff stood out and helped us, the rooms had no tv and they brought handymen who are installing the tv and they told us to hand the key for the room so that they can fix the tv. "Perfekt zum Ankommen. Lage: Mit Hotelshuttle max. 15 Min. zum int. Flughafen und zu Fuß nur 15 Min. zum Meskel Platz (Busbahnhof) ist super. Dafür sehr ruhig. Service: Sowohl der Weg zu einer kleinen Kaffeerösterei als auch zum nächsten funktionierenden Geldautomaten oder zum Ethiopian Telecom Laden wurde uns mit Begleitung gezeigt!
