HOTEL MACAO

10/10 Excellent

"The staff were so kind and accommodating with my limited Spanish. The sizable breakfast was great and sustained me all day until dinner even when trekking. The location is right next to hiking trails and very walkable to the plaza without being in the middle of it. I was even pleasantly surprised by an upgrade with an amazing view since I was staying 4 nights and the hotel wasn't sold out. Highly recommend!"

"Nice hotel with good amenities. The pool area is very nice. I would recommend the heated pool. The breakfast was average at best. We also had lunch there (which was extra) but the food was much better. We were at this hotel when the earthquake hit Colombia. The site obtained only minimal damage. We did not get much guidance and/or updates at first. But they did make up for it later - providing us with more info and contingency plans if there were aftershocks. The location is a little bit away from town so traveling back at night on dimly lit roads warrant some additional attention to the roads."

"Personnel was great, old fashion style, personal, friendly, Inside the hotel is very safe, gated, and surveillance cameras all over, Hotel it is located in the heart of the town with a lot of business and people around. It is a traditional hotel with no other major amenities, for an emergency it will be OK."
