If they tell you they're fully booked, they're lying. Went to go extend with multiple outlets showing at least 9 available rooms - just for front desk and manager to insist that they were full but to "try to book and see if it will go through". They will tell you they are full so that they can maxamize profits on what little rooms they have left available. Slightly criminal in my opinion. Great hotel in terms of location and amenities though.

I loved the free breakfast in the mornings. It wasn't just pastries and coffee, but fresh pancakes, sausage, cereal, yogurt bar, etc. The staff was very friendly and allowed a late checkout at no additional charge. This was my second stay. I will definitely return again if I come back to Iowa.

We had a nice stay at Element West Des Moines. The lobby area is beautiful,and overall the experience is a step above other hotels in its price range (nightly reception, a staff member cooking pancakes with fun toppings, etc.). When we checked in, we were given a room on the 2nd floor. I had requested a room on the top floor, and it was clear that the request had not been seen or recorded. Jennifer, was very kind and found us a room on the 3rd floor (there are 4 floors total), away from the elevator as we had originally requested. I was grateful for her kindness and help. Our room specifically needed to have a few paint touch ups done, and there were a few small perfectly round holes in the bathroom wall (maybe where they tried to put in the towel bar) and a bit of dirt near the shower door, but overall it was clean. It may be time to replace the beds, as they had a padded mattress cover on it, but it was still not plush. I have not stayed at other places in the area, but I think you would be pleased with your stay.

Check in was quick and the clerk, while not overly friendly, was polite and professional. The room was very large and the beds were comfortable. The a/c was my only complaint. We turned it all the way down but I was still very warm. Maybe that was a me problem. The bathroom was well lit but we were short a couple towels. I don’t recommend the restaurant across the street unless you are into loud sports bars with almost all high top tables. I do recommend going to Hurts Donuts!

Hotel is extremely clean and welcoming. Hotel staff is helpful and friendly. Pool area was clean and great for kids. Room was nice with plenty of room. Would recommend to anyone!

Only thing I didn’t like was that there was a bunch of drunk loud people at 1am in the lobby and loud music in the room next door the room wasn’t the room I ordered but it was clean and convenient

There was stuck on food in one of the chairs, you could tell that housekeeping didn’t do a very good job and probably only vacuumed. All of the mirrors were dirty. silverware was gross. The staff was incredibly rude. Am I coworker who also had a room also had issues with the rude staff and cleanliness as well as the water pressure in the showers were absolutely terrible and the bed was really lumpy.

There was a constant beeping sound coming from the kitchen. Told front desk and they advised to flip the kitchen breakers in my room but this solution didn’t work. They then said there was nothing they could do. In the morning, the front desk asked how my stay was at checkout, I told them I didn’t sleep but two hours intermittently because of the repeated beeping noise. She said it was my bad luck and walked away.

Not a great experience.
The water pressure was horrible and the bed was way to firm and way to low to the ground(didn’t realize it was platform bed), wish there was more tv stations to watch, wasn’t comfortable adding my username and password to the tv to access apps. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher too and no hairdryer in the bathroom. Your housekeeper knocked but opened the door immediately the next morning at 10:40. Check out is not til noon, we could have been getting dressed. Very unprofessional. Your receptionist was very kind and helpful though, she had a hairdryer in our room by the time we got back from the store.

Room was spacious and staff was friendly. The cleanliness could use some improvement as the kitchen area had a dirty stained sponge and dirty dishes in the dishwasher. The walls are thin and you can hear everything from the rooms to the side and above you. Bed was comfortable, but it was hard to sleep because of the noise. Overall ok for a quick one night stay.

Very nice hotel, spacious rooms. Kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub was great after a long day. Good hot breakfast. People above us were making a bunch of noise and stomping around at 2am, but that isnt the hotels fault.

The hotel and staff were fantastic! The issue is it is right next an EXTREMELY loud bar. We may as well have been in the bar as we could hear every song clearly well into the wee hours of the morning. It’s not the fault of the host tell staff, and as I said, they were fantastic. But unfortunately, we will not be staying here again since we could not get any sleep without downloading and using very loud white noise apps. It really was unbelievable.
