Staff are nice and the hotel is clean and elegant. But the rooms are very small and all equipment (everything from the gym to the hairdryers) is ancient and on its last legs.

Great location, within walking distance of most landmarks. However, I experienced issues with hot water during my stay. Additionally, there was an excessive use of spray (either bug spray or cleaning spray) in the elevator and corridors, resulting in an overpowering smell.

I paid for a room with a city view. You know the ones like on their pictures. I was put into a room that was the size of a closet. So I complained and showed him what I paid for and then I got a room with a view a rooftops nothing else. And then I was charged on the way out for things. I didn’t even use like the alcohol that I don’t drink.. if you read this, I think you can figure out the rest!

The staff went above and beyond during are extended stay to make sure we were comfortable. I was there for eye surgery and they made sure my stay was as smooth as possible.

Únicamente los turistas extranjeros no se les cobra el IVA en el alojamiento. Sin embargo usted de acuerdo a su registro en el hotel es Ecuatoriano y por esta razón se le cobró el IVA. Esperamos haber aclarado su importante observación.-

Estimada Sra. Luz Rodriguez saludos de El Dorado Hotel. Entendemos que la habitación no fue cómoda, lamentablemente no contabamos con habitaciones más amplias para la fecha. Sin embargo usted reservó una habitación para dos adultos y una niña y en el check in se registraron tres adultos y una adolescente y nuestra disponibilidad no nos permitía asignarle una habitación de acuerdo al número real de huéspedes. El personal de recepción hizo todo lo posible para que usted y su familia puedan estar cómodos y le indicaron personalmente las habitaciones para que usted pueda elegir una o tomar dos habitaciones en lugar de una.El desayuno es buffet, muy variado. Le agradeceríamos saber si talvez le faltó alguna comida en especial.Siempre es valioso para el personal del hotel tener sus importantes comentarios, pues nos permiten hacer nuestro trabajo cada día mejor. Estamos a las órdenes.

We had a wonderful stay, from the time we were picked up from the airport by their shuttle service, to the room upgrade and the helpfulness of the staff. I just hope the music from the electronic store across the street was less loud and not on as often. Thank goodness it's off in the evenings which was quiet and peaceful. The location otherwise can't be beat! I'd definitely stay again.

Nice place. Uncooperative staff, bad attitude and no help. Tried to cancel last day of 4 nights right after checking. The refused and said to get the refund from Travelocity. Travelocity said we had to get it from the hotel. Would never stay there again

Modern hotel right in the middle of the historic centro of Cuenca, other hotels around the area may offer an old charm but do you really want to sleep in dirty old beds? El Dorado Hotel has that luxury experience you need for the end of the night. You can see all the old hotels during the day as a visitor, then go home to your super clean marble bathroom glass showers and modern luxurious king size bed at El Dorado to sleep. Staff is excellent, Breakfast is awesome, View is sick, Location is perfect. Can't beat this hotel

Great location! However during this pandemic I think HOTEL DORADO should not have Snacks at the room if it’s not FREE I didn’t feel safe eating those snacks even if I have a to pay. Cleaning Staff/ I have to requested several times because they didn’t clean the room.

super friendly and comfy!
We had a great stay. The front manager and everyone were really friendly and went above and beyond helping us. The staff was very curious and respectful. The bed was large and so comfy! The room was small and we had to move around each other. But, it was ok. We would definitely stay there again, but in a room with more walking space. Sincerely, thanks for the great stay!

My room had a balcony and the balcony door didn't close. The staff knew I was traveling with a small kid, a non lockable balcony is a risk. They sent 3 different staff groups go my room to check and fix it and none of them fixed it, all of them claimed it was fixed and pretended to try to open the balcony door to show it was fixed and I tried too and it just opened, it wasn't fixed. Then the lady at the lobby told me I there were no more rooms so I had to take it or she could put me in contact with the person who could fix the door (a quick search in Expedia showed they did have rooms, my wife called and asked for a room and they told her they had rooms). It was night already and we decided to stay as it was just one night. We went to the cafeteria for breakfast and they had dirty plates and glasses, I had to tell the employees as they hadn't noticed, or so they claimed. When checking out nobody asked if the stay was good, my wife told the lady at the lobby that everything was awful and she just ignored her. I would never stay at this place again, not even if they paid me to.

We enjoy staying at this hotel! I gave it five stars! The suite was clean, I email the hotel and asked for extra towels before arriving, they came through! Concierge were very attentive, breakfast the next morning was delicious!! Overall we had a great experience! 😊

Nice hotel in a convenient location in Cuenca. Staff was great. We had a nice balcony looking over the street. Restaurant was just ok. We had dinner one night. Breakfast was also only ok.

We stayed in the Presidential Suite for 7 days and we loved the staff. Our Spanish is paltry but they went out of their way to help us always. Their daily breakfast buffet was WONDERFUL. Freshly made omelettes and waffles plus all the fresh fruits, yogurts, fresh juices and Ecuadorian food as well. It was the best way to start my day! The dining room and room service staff were great. One of the lovely waiters even brought the breakfast plate I made for my fiancée and brought it up to the room since he didn’t feel well. I highly recommend the El Dorado. We will come back here always when in Cuenca

A modern hotel in the heart of the old town just one block from the new catherderal. Bathroom rather small but workable and breakfast could be improved. But for the price, excellent value for money

The doorman knows this hotel the best, he is an asset to the hotel and all staff gave excellent service. On arrival we requested a room with a decent view and we were reallocated from the 1st floor to the 7th overlooking the city. Beautiful by day and night. The front of house and the waiting staff in the dijjnt room gave us excellent service. The hotel is clean, practical, well located.
