"I did not have time to use the pool or workout room but I did look in at them and they looked nice and clean. I love the bathroom layout with the big long shelf to be able to set things out on."

"Good location by the water, short walk to various restaurants or sightseeing spots. King room was large and spacious, 2 complimentary bottles of water, bathroom was nice except there was a couple of pieces of hair by bathtub drain from previous person. Big flat screen TV, but issue with antenna, so only some channels could be viewed. Check in and check out was quick and easy. Very friendly front desk ladies. Lobby space was nice with fruit flavored water dispenser. 2 elevators. Large pool, no gym. Didn't use pool, but saw hotel employee checking conditions of the water."

"Of our 3 stays in Salem, the Merchant was hands down our favourite and well worth it. Beautiful older building with older charm. Gorgeous and spacious room we stayed in. The staff are what really sell this place though - they are very friendly and helpful. The location absolutely cannot be beat, with all the fun downtown charms of Salem literally right outside your doorstep while still being peaceful and quiet overnight. The only thing worth noting is that the whole place is not wheelchair accessible however, there is a ramp and I assume that possibility for the first floor of the building just stairs only access to the upper floors to note both for any disability or lots of luggage (the staff were amazing and took our insanely hefty bags up said stairs for us to room after dropping bags off prior to checking in). We would hands down stay here and book around their availability the next trip we end up in Salem again."

"Our stay at the Cove was excellent. We booked one of the theme rooms (the haunted circus) and it did not disappoint. Super fun spooky ambience, and a very spacious room for multiple night stays to have as a home base. We did not get a chance to utilize but they have cozy fire pits, a common lounge/ game room and a newly added bar area beside the fire pit patio including some lawn games as well. Room was clean and comfy. Check in was smooth and easy. A little too far for our liking to walk to downtown of Salem from so we ubered each time but quick and convenient getting an uber to and from and for some walking distance still possible if desired."

"Very old, historic building that takes you back into history. A perfect combination of old with modern convenience. Our room had a musty smell that may just be what it is with an old building. Never saw a staff member, so I could not comment on the staff. Breakfast extremely disappointing. Keurig coffee, Sam’s Club granola bars, apples and oranges, bread, English muffins and raisin bread. I recommend this property for the history, the experience of staying in such an old house and for the location."

"Excellent! Super easy access and check-in/check-out process and quick communication. Buildings and rooms are impeccable and gorgeously decorated in historic fashion. Comfy king bed in the Rajah room, beautiful clawfoot tub or a separate shower, and the main house was amazing as well. Great continental breakfast options"
