This hotel is located in the center of the old town. It is very convenient for shopping, eating, and sight seeing. They serve a great breakfast and have parking under the building. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Beautiful location, friendly people
The additional breakfast charges of EUR 13 per day are extreme. But the staff is very welcoming and helpful, and the hotel is in a lovely spot right in the heart of the pedestrian zone of Cottbus. I would definitely stay here again!

Quality Hotel in Old Town Area
My wife and I have stayed at Sorat Hotel Cottbus on several occasions, and we have never been disappointed. The Sorat has an excellent location in the old town area. It provides quality lodging at a reasonable price with clean and comfortable rooms and wifi that works well. There are numerous restaurants in the area.

Quality Hotel in the Altstadt
Sorat Hotel Cottbus provided its typical high quality lodging experience. Well located in the Altstadt area, the Sorat provided a clean and comfortable room at a very reasonable price. The wifi worked well. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel. One issue: I extended my three night stay by one additional night, for which I pre-paid to Hotels.com/Expedia. However, the Sorat double-billed me for the fourth night at check-out. (I am confident the Sorat will resolve this issue.)

Cottbus old town stay
The staff were friendly and spoke English. The hotel is in the center of old town so very accessible. A very enjoyable stay.

Hotel was ok. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, we didnt get double bed (only twin), shower was a disaster as it was over-flooding and trash wasn't removed from the room.

Comfortable hotel in the midst of a historic town
The hotel is located just a short walk from the market center of town, where a number of welcoming cafes and restaurants are located. The town has many buildings with interesting historical architecture. While staying at the Sorat Hotel, I attended an excellent opera performance of "Wozzeck" at the Staatstheater. The Staatstheater dates from the first decade of the 20th century, is built in the Jugendstil style and is well worth a visit even if just to see the building itself.

I stay at Sorat every time I travel to Cottbus. It is situated in the very centre of Cottbus. Parking 9 euros per night, good transportation to any part of the city

Not worth the money
One and the only big advantage of staying at this hotel is its location directly in the city center - Altstadt. Apart from that, this hotel was a big disappointment for us. At checking in, the receptionist had problems finding our reservation not to mention the fact she could barely speak English. That affected the whole process of checking in as she could not welcome us properly, answer our questions or give us hints and tips concerning places of interest in the vicinity of the hotel. Other receptionists we talked to later could speak English on a sufficient level though. Even though we had requested a room with one Queen sized bed, we had to make do with two beds put together. The shower bath was pretty small for one person so couples will experience trouble "fitting" in it. The hotel sauna was nice but you cannot book it for a specific period of time, i.e. any hotel guest may decide to enter it while you are using it and the problem is that it is terribly small - 3 - 4 persons max. Regarding the breakfast buffet, it costs EUR 13. There are several really nice cafes close to the hotel where you can get a sumptuous breakfast for less than EUR 10 and with a better choice. One last thing. The hotel offers free WiFi. Unfortunately, it is incredibly slow. It makes no sense to offer anything for free if it doesn't work properly. It just leads to greater disappointment and disillusionment. There are several other hotels in Cottbus so book a room at one of them.

The helpfulness of the staff in a non english-speaking country was outstanding! Everyone from front desk to housekeeping went above and beyond and I would recomend this hotel to anyone.

Wonderful stay
We were very pleased with our stay. The hotel was well maintained, the room and bathroom modern and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet, while pricey, offered a huge selection and since it was all you can eat, a late-ish breakfast could serve as lunch too. Since the room rate was ridiculously low for the quality, we didn't mind the breakfast price. Delightful extra touches were towel warmer (especially welcome since we were there during the coldest, snowiest December in recent memory) and lending library in the lobby, including guidebooks and novels in English. The only thing that was less than perfect as far as we were concerned was that the room was actually too warm at night, especially under those cushy featherbed covers, and we couldn't seem to get it adjusted down. Finally opened the window a crack and that solved that. All in all, a great stay and we would definitely go back.
