The Ibis Hotel Cotonou is an Accor hotel. It is basic and relatively cheap. It offers breakfast but otherwise dinning options are limited. The staff on duty on arrival were rather indifferent and offhand - although staff rostered on subsequent days were pleasant to deal with. The rooms are quite small and lack facilities such as free tea and coffee, tissues and bottled water. After eating their food I suffered from stomach pains and diarrhea for three days. I had two subsequent one day bookings at the Ibis in August which I then cancelled. The bookings were via Expedia who advised that the money I paid would not be refunded as a result of Accor policies - and this was despite the fact that the two days and more were booked at another more expensive Accor hotel (so Accor got my money twice). I would not advise travelers to avoid the Ibis as there were some positives but do not expect more than a basic service.

They charge bogus fee. My business partner was charged 20,000cfa in April claiming they did not receive payment from expedia. When asked for explanation and provided booking confirmation, he was told that he will be refunded when the hotel manager returns. Hotel manager is never on duty. I also booked in june and was also charged 8,500cfa but i was able to get mine refunded. When i enquired about the 20,000, i was told manager was not on duty. My contact information was taken and promised to contact me, they never did. On my way back to the state, i stop by to asked for the refund and was told manager not on duty. It seems there is a scheme between the staff to extort money from tourists. I have never been to an hotel that an hotel manager is never on duty except iblis cotonou

Great place at value. Next to the beach and offer a nice hot breakfast buffet. Comfortable bed and perfect for a business overnight stay or someone wanted just some quiet and frequent walks to the beach. The only thing is I thought I was paying all of the taxes through Expedia. I had to pay the hotel tax. Not sure if this was accurate. I questioned but did not fully dispute it during check out.

I booked a double room with one double bed and one twine bed. But when I arrived there today, the staff said they only have one bed room which named standard room. But I showed the reservation record of expedia website to them, it clearly there as I booked. It’s terrible thing that never happened before. I have to complain it.

Although booked as Ibis, that building is locked and they put you up at the sister hotel next door Novotel, which is a newish well maintained hotel. Nothing to complain at all about the hotel or service. Everything excellent.

It shouldn't take 3 men half an hour to check me into the hotel, particularly late at night when I have been travelling for 33 hours. Rooms are small and there is no hot water. Even in Africa that is not acceptable.

Hotel was good, as to be expected. The staff were helpful. Just one note, but I found out it's a common practice in Benin, when sending your clothes to the cleaners, they will staple tags (with two staples) through the cloth. For my jacket they stapled through the inside coat pocket. And for my pants they staple through the inside zipper flap.

Very Good Customer Service
The staff is wonderful. On Saturday, when they normally don't do laundry, they called their cleaners to come pick up my clothes. I had a trip scheduled on Sunday to the north and they ensured that my clothes were returned Saturday evening.

Rooms have enough space to work, beds are soft, but not too soft, so it made for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was okay, plenty of local fruits and yogurt. Pastries were good also. WiFi was good and reliable.

No frills room, but the bed was comfortable. Breakfast not the greatest, but plenty of local fruits and yogurt, as well as pastries. The coffee is instant but they have nespresso you can buy for 2000CFA.

Hotel provides soap (one stop shop for hair, face, and body) and no other immensities. So bring your own. The personnel were very cordial, polite, and helpful. If you need to print anything, the hotel charges 500 CFA (~$1) per black and white page. However, checking with other hotels, this is a pretty standard charge. Breakfast was nothing special, but there's plenty of local fruits and yogurt. As well as local pastries. The 'hot' section seemed to be all packaged food: canned beans, powdered eggs, etc. And the coffee is instant, though you can buy half-decent espresso from the bar. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable (a wee bit on the soft side, but not too soft). All in all, it was a pleasant stay and what I expected. I was neither wowed nor disappointed.

A power cut forced me to look x alternative lodgings. went to novotel but is currently under refurbishment so...ibis, which is next. all good. basic but nice. had a good breakfast as well. i then decided to extend my stay twomore days.

Convenient and clean hotel
The hotel is a typical Ibis, which is a decent no-frills standard, good for a short business visit. It is also located in the same complex with the Novotel, which has some additional facilities that are also available to the guests of the Ibis.

Easy choice for a couple of days stay
Novotel and ibis are housed in the same compound. American embassy is right opposite the hotel. Main boulevard with best restaurants in town just five mins drive away. Room and service is predictable and meets expectation. The toilet is cramped but is ok for couple of days visit. Found carpet in my room a bit wet on one side....but on previous several stays this hasn't been a problem. Breakfast is included and wifi is free. Will recommend.

The rooms are small but comfortable for a short stay. The internet speed is amazing and comes well inside the room (a new in Benin) where even good hotels also have internet working well in certain parts of the hotel. Food options are very limited at IBIS and you need to go to next door Novotel if you wish to have more than a snack. Breakfast is limited but decent. Overall a good hotel to stay for short duration..
