Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
The room: Fan not working in bathroom, heat light in bathroom ditto. Result was that the bathroom was cold and uncomfortable. Heat was tucked behind the drapes, so you could either use either one but not both. Coffee maker but no creamer or sweetener. Luke warm water in shower. No TV and bad internet. Restaurant is awful. We waited almost 2 hours for bowls of tepid soup and some entree meals. Food was not good and menu is limited and very high priced. Sent the soup back to be warmed up. The server never offered bread or anything during the time we were there waiting. Spoke to the manager the next day. When you stay at the lodge, you are trapped there and the restaurant is the only choice. My advice, drive back to Cortez.
Great place to stay in a magnificent setting. You are literally cut out from the world, without wifi or tv (except in the reception area), with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

The property is a step above camping. Next time we’ll stay outside the park. Our trip was spur of the moment. We’ll plan better next time.
The lodge definitely has some age on it. everything creaks and rattles. the walls are paper thin. you can everything your neighbors are doing. the window was leaky so there was a constant whistling. the bathroom is so tiny and they should have hung the shower door the other way. as it was once you open the shower door you can not access the rest of the bathroom. so if you left your towel on the other side of the door you are stuck! also, there was no TV in the room. literally, nothing to do after dark.
Overall it was okay for a $60 price range. but not the premium price you pay for the room.
We reserved the room for 2 nights, but decided to leave after the first night despite not being able to get our money back.
