The historic setting of the Perkins house was very fun to learn about—it has a unique history and the owners preserved it’s originality. It was decorated to the extreme with antiques and knickknacks which made it feel a bit cluttered and our bedroom was so full of things that there was not much room left to lay out our things. But the breakfast provided was delicious each morning and was very satisfying.

My boyfriend and I spent one night at the Perkins House and we loved it! The hosts were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The house is cozy and our room was very comfortable. We hope to be back some day.

From when you pull up, to the porch, to the house, to the garden everything is so well taken care of and clean. The owners are welcoming and have everything you need and more to make your stay perfect. I loved how each room had its own character. The coffee and breakfast were truly delicious. Thank you for your hospitality. Enjoy the food Dulce. Will be back again within the year.

So glad you all enjoyed your stay! The carriage house has a private bath. Our interior rooms have shared baths, as stated in the listing, but often they don't share with anyone! Glad that worked out for ya! I'm glad you enjoyed our town too! Lots of shops & eateries!

The owners are very friendly and welcoming. It is a very cozy place with a home like feeling. Comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast. Easy to find and felt safe in this quiet little town and location.

A bed and breakfast worth a trip
Absolutely gorgeous, brilliantly decorated and well looked-after BnB. It was an experience of its own, worth a trip! Amazing food, great wifi, A/C - everything you need for a great stay. The only surprise for us was a shared bathroom, but we wouldn’t trade this experience for any other option. Kate & Anton

The Perkins House is a unique, historic B&B with friendly hosts, Gretchen and Keith. The inn has numerous interesting decorations. It is fabulous old architecture, with several parlors, two staircases, a butler's pantry, and other nooks and crannies. The room and bed were comfortable. We were in a smaller room, though, and it was fairly crowded. It was hard to find a surface to set anything down on. We were only there one night so it wasn't a big deal, but would have been harder to stay in that room longer. We shared a large hall bathroom, which was fine. The hosts supplied plenty of toiletries, towels, and everything we needed. Everything was clean and organized. My favorite feature of the house was the hanging "bed" on the front porch. I laid down, swung, and enjoyed a lovely respite from the world for a bit, enjoying the cool breeze of the evening air and the sounds of the birds and community. The breakfast was a highlight of our trip. Keith's grits and "eggs benedict" (his unique recipe with sausage, sausage gravy, and a corn muffin) was absolutely delicious and outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and ate too much! We would definitely come back and recommend the Perkins House to others.

Wonderful b&b in a quiet town. Gretchen and Keith were very gracious, and the ambiance of the house made you feel right at home. Book the carriage room if you can! Highly recommend!

The breakfasts were delicious and the hosts friendly. Our room was inadequately lit and overly cluttered with antiques. Same for our shared bathroom. There was no space for toilet kits, etc.

Great Inn!
The Perkins House was better than expected. Attention to detail was top-notch. Restaurants/shopping were within walking distance. Portland, Maine, and the Cape were only about 1 hour away. We will be back.

The decor and quality of the home was amazing but we were extremely disappointed at the lack of “breakfast” aspect of the B&B. We have personally never stayed in a B&B but our friends and family agreed that it was odd to not have a full breakfast spread available to us. One of the other aspects that made us choose this location was the outdoor patio with hot tub. My boyfriend has chronic back pain and really looked forward to the hot tub as he was hurting quite a bit from traveling and it was sad to see it not available either.

Hot gourmet Breakfasts are only served on weekends (read the description when you book). Grab and go during the week. The hot tub is NEVER available to any guest. Read ammenitities offered. That is not one. Truly, read the descriptions before you book. We have amazing reviews on our southern gourmet spreads. And our weekends are always full! The rooms are a wee bit pricier on the weekends.

Lovely respite to just recharge!
I found this gem online. I was just looking for a restful night to get away and recharge! It was a lovely inn and the hosts were welcoming and the room was charming. It is tucked away in a neighborhood and very restful. I especially enjoyed having coffee on the back porch! Thanks so much!

We stayed in the Carriage House room for my husband’s 40th birthday/Valentine’s Day weekend. The whole house is beautifully decorated. The Carriage House is very spacious and charming with super soft bedding, cozy lounging area, gas fireplace, and dining nook. Breakfast was prepared and served fresh including fresh fruit and yogurt parfait, and quiche. The coffee/tea bar in the kitchen has just about everything you can think of. Everything about Perkins house is lovely. We can’t wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the grounds. The town has several restaurants and antique shops. This is a great location to be! You are a short ride to many NH & ME destinations.

Quaint and cozy
A wonderful stay that included one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. Indeed, I'd describe this as more of a bed & breakfast rather than a "hotel" even though it's listed on hotels.com. A quaint and cozy place for spending a chilly New England evening as I was.
