I had a reservation but when we walked in the room….it smelled like sewage, mold mildew was on back of sofa (we moved it to try to allow more cool air to escape), door facing is nasty, air conditioner was filthy. Amazingly the room was neat and bed was good however, the pillows under the pillow cases were badly used and yellow. The bathroom was clean. The manager refunded our money and we found another motel. It’s a sketchy area and nasty outside the door.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only thing I can complain about is that the room/s near me had loud music playing but they did turn it off around 11PM. That's not the hotel's fault though.

The lady was nice at check in/check out. When I got to the room there was a strong musty smell of smoke and a couch that may have been a crime scene. There were no cushions on it. It looked like it should be in the dumpster, which was conveniently located by the stairwell.

The lady at check in was super friendly and quick so I felt better about the appearance after that, but when I arrived to my room, it was rough. The musty smell was hard at first, there were quite a few flies (probably because 2 large trash cans are lining the rooms outside about every other room & full) & trash was visible around the grounds. Our room had a gross stained floor, stains on the walls and generally just gross vibes. I do say the bed was nice and firm (PLUS) but no working TVs!

room was comfortable and clean. Steep stairs to get to second floor so beware you have to be mobile for room 207. Nice balcony off this room. Great place to relax and unwind after the day.

The staff was very nice. I spoke to a front desk person that was very professional. And at check in we spoke to another employee, again very nice. The room 203 however was a whole other story. It was horrible. It was dirty all over. Meaning walls, floors, surface tops, tv had been cleaned it looked with a dirty rag or something. Not a single thing had been wiped down to be clean. There were stains, we don’t know exactly what, on side tables, furniture (chair and couch), & comforters. The sheets themselves we clean looking. The bottom of the door frame had been chewed on by a dog and in same door way there was a change in flooring and that entire door way had no transition piece..so another material. Toilet seemed clean but countertop was definitely dirty as well. I cleaned it and my Clorox wipe was brown. The window sills, door itself inside the room all dirty dirty dirty. We did go speak to the front desk and he was understanding and we got our deposit refunded and then I dealt with Expedia and again I was refunded. This is not a kind of room that should exist in America.

The cost is reasonable and the location is okay relative to downtown area. The linen had some strange odor; the bathroom could be cleaned better and more towels needed. and it is adjacent to a club. For the money; this is about what you would expect nowadays.

Starkville stay

The location of red roof inn was the best thing. The outside is not very appealing. The room itself wasn’t bad but I noticed blood or food on the sheets and I had to convince them to change them before I slept on them another night. Good thing it’s walking distance to downtown and the university and there’s a good bar in the same parking lot

Spend a few more dollars for a better place

I had requested a handicap room when I got there the person said they didn’t have any. I can’t get in and out of a tub so I had to wash my hair in the sink and do a wash off bath. Walls and door were dirty— like finger and hand smear. all it takes is a little soap and water. At least it was quiet and the bed was clean and fairly comfortable. But I won’t stay there again.

Nice big room with comfortable king sized bed. Room was in need of serious renovation or repairs but was very clean. Not knowing previous history, I don’t like or use multi-person dispenser care products used by this hotel and many others. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, and small coffeemaker although there were no coffee cups or products. Plenty of hot water. Surprisingly, it was quiet even though there was a busy tavern sharing the parking lot!

My stay was fine because it was in a convenient location. The check in was simple and fast no issues. But the room was another story I had to go the office immediately after check and ask for a clean bed spread for the room. I received in a timely manner but the room had no trash cans, and I didn’t receive any new towels. The bathroom walls and door were very dirty but the shower worked and had hot water. Then Saturday night there was a club next to the motel and the patrons parked in the motel parking lot and were being loud. I will definitely not stay again
