The opium from online reviews had great promise. After visiting the opium and spending a week there, I felt it’s necessary to provide an accurate insight on my stay.
The reception staff are amazing, very good English, very helpful and helped us book tours and provide a lot information. It’s a decent area location wise, near night markets and local markets.
But that’s as far as the positives go. The hotel is very old. The rooms are dirty and even when cleaned it still feels dirty. The toilet and the room stinks permanently, whilst the shower water is never hot! The internet is completely bad, slow and doesn’t connect a lot of times. The cleaners are rude and never cleaned the room properly. The pool is also dirty and the breakfast options are small and tasteless. Lastly if you want an authentic experience in Chiang Mai, the hotel is full of tourist and not cultural vibe.
I came with my girlfriend based on the reviews online and to be honest, I would not go back ever. Bad experience. Felt dirty my whole time there and was delighted to leave.
