Disappointing

This is no longer Allium, though taken over 2 months before our stay, all the emails from the booking site were still referring toAllium. There was no mention of steep stone steps up to the room, not good for the disabled, especially when wet. There were several problems. The tv remote needed new batteries, we had only half a toilet roll, both were put right quickly when pointed out. Breakfast bought up to the room at the time requested was excellent, muesli, yogurt, fruit, toast and honey. But arriving back late afternoon no one had been in the room. The breakfast dishes were still there and nothing, including the bed had been touched. The pub was lovely and the food very good. The new management of the now Beehive Pub really to get their act together.

We travelled to this property late on Saturday night. On arrival, we were shown to our room which was cold. We managed to get some food brought to our room and arranged for breakfast to be delivered by 9am the following morn. A Beatles tribute band was playing until 11pm which we were only warned about on Saturday morning and there was continuous noise throughout the night, with music at 3.47am. We stayed until 10am to wait for our breakfast that didn’t arrive. Totally disappointed with the accommodation which is not called Alium but The Beehive!!!! Not what was expected at all.

Staff were lovely, but our room, although on the surface was very well presented, was slightly disappointing due to rain water leaking through the ceiling and us having cold water when having a shower later on in the day. The pub and hotel had only been open 2 days and we could see that the staff involved in putting the issue right were very helpful and apologetic and we were offered a refund for our stay but this hasn't happened yet. Overall it is a lovely pub/hotel in a beautiful location.

Late arrival so I let myself in using door codes sent via text. All worked as it should do. Excellent room, bathroom and room equipped with a small fridge containing all required for a simple breakfast. As I arrived late and left early I did not see anyone else so can't comment on service other than to say I would certainly use this stop over again.

Midweek break

A really lovely, comfortable boutique room with everything we needed. Warm, cosy and relaxing. With the restaurant being closed on a Monday and Tuesday, this made it more tricky than the norm as there is no front desk. However, contact by email was great and responses were within a couple of hours. Obviously the rest of the week is no problem at all. Would definitely go back and there is a family room too with two twin beds in a small side room! Perfect.

chester weekend

Lovely place, lovely staff and area but noisy in the evening. Poor sound proofing can hear the music in the restaurant from the bedrooms and can hear next door bathroom fan, shower and light switch. Quiet during the night from 11pm when restaurant/bar close.

Bad experience

We booked and paid 3 rooms for our group and when we arrived they just provided 2 rooms and asked us to stay together in 2 rooms. Our driver and tour guide did not have room so they had to book another room at another hotel to stay separately with the rest of group. The hotel ran out of water at 4 am, so our group did not have water to use in the morning. Our guide can not contact to reception. Breakfast was so poor

Fantastic Hotel

This hotel is simply wonderful. The cleanliness of the room and the staff were fantastic and I will definitely be staying here again. Great selection of food and drinks for the morning in the room, lovely comfortable bed and a great shower!The location is ideal for this quaint little village.

Lovely Accommodation with Fantastic Restaurant

My stay here was lovely - well priced accommodation with clean and very comfortable room. The restaurant downstairs is lovely as well, with friendly staff and tasty food. When I had a few questions and needed to sort a few of my travel documents and plans out, the staff immediately went above and beyond to help get me sorted, even for things that weren't related to my stay with them.

Very pleasant stay

Lovely hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast in room so no need to rush downstairs for a certain time. Nice and relaxed night away. Would visit again to try out the restaurant as we attended a party away from.the hotel.

Perfect chilled night away

I’ve wanted to eat at the restaurant for a while, so was pleased to get the opportunity to stay and eat too. Food was amazing as expected, but the room was a big plus. Good sized, well equipped, and beautifully decorated, with a large, comfortable bed. Bathroom had bath and shower over, with nice toiletries on hand. The breakfast was served in room, with pastries delivered the night before. The only very small issue was the fridge in the room wasn’t cool enough and the milk had turned, but it didn’t spoil the night away by any means. A perfect little getaway in the Cheshire countryside.

Family get away

Great hotel we were welcomed by the hotel manager and explained that the restaurant was closed the two nights we were at the hotel but explained a few options nearby for dinner, fresh passteries brought to room daily along with orange juice and fresh milk

Average to poor. Inadequate for a longer stay.

Not suitable if you stay for more than one night. Continental breakfast is a total misconception; a bag of mw-heated pastry being dropped in front of your room an evening before. No fresh fruit either. Please, be advised, breakfast you get is just a tray of cereals on the desk and a bottle of milk in the small fridge under your it, a small packet of nutella to go with the pastry. No butter, no fresh bread, marmelade ... Would be much better if breakfast was served in the restaurant downstairs. If you’re OK with that then consider, if not stay away. Booked family room, was allocated a single one. When noting it, staff went defensive and rude. Totally inadequate for students coming to training at GAT nearby. Never answered phone calls on the number listed. Food at the restaurant is OK (only had one meal). Staff just not interested and distant. Very unpleasant feeling. Would expect a more professional attitude. High standards yet to be achieved regarding lodging. But then, I booked it myself, so I guess it’s my fault (a hint given by a lady of the property). Enough said. Will never go there again.

Room was lovely decorated but had no bath so wasn't the room I booked ..staff weren't bothered at all . Bathroom radiator was broken so was cold in there ..breakfast a let down aswell so not very satisfied ..was offered part refund...still waiting ..disappointing stay

Excellent presentation - No delivery

The room was beautifully decorated and prepared. However the hot water was no more than tepid so couldn't shower. We reported this immediately but nothing was done , luckily only staying one night. We were led to believe that a continental breakfast was provided. This consisted of two packets of cereal, one yogurt and some fruit, all self service in our room. The promised rolls and croissants failed to materialise. There were no staff on site just a phone number to ring someone in the village with any problems. She told us that she couldn't do anything about the breakfast as the kitchen was closed. Told us that she would arrange a refund but that has not materialised either. My daughter and family were staying in another room and had the same problem. Had to go and find somewhere else to have breakfast at extra cost.

Fab restaurant, bed ( & basic breakfast ) in room

Modern environment. Clean and tidy. Bed ( and basic self service breakfast ) in room was not what I expected. The restaurant exceeded expectation. Delicious food and great service in restaurant. But only open for half our stay.
