If you'd like to discover a true nautical town, a holiday in Cesenatico is just right for you.

Cesenatico is a lovely town wrapped around its Canal Harbour designed by Leonardo Da Vinci, where you can admire docked fishing vessels and the old ships that make up the floating section of the Maritime Museum, and try some delicious seafood dishes in the many restaurants flanking the port, too. The weather's great, so you can swim most of the year, and the town is easy to reach thanks to our many holiday offers to Cesenatico.

The heart of Cesenatico is Viale Carducci, a seafront road full of shops, street cafés, pubs and ice cream parlours, that flanks the coast for over 4 km from Cesenatico's pier to Gatteo a Mare. During the summer, a large section is closed to traffic in the evenings, transforming it into a pedestrian boulevard full of tourists. The oldest part of Cesenatico is the Town Hall, near the port, close to the characteristic Piazzetta delle Conserve. In the mornings, this square hosts the town's fresh fruit and vegetable market, while in the evenings it become a venue for concerts and music performances.

Sunrise in Cesenatico always creates a special atmosphere and play of light, and for several years in July and August Cesenatico has put on a "Dawn Concerts" series. This is a special moment for the eyes and ears to soak up great live music and the colours of the sky and sea. For two months every summer, nationally and internationally renowned artists and musicians perform at various locations.

The Maritime Museum in Cesenatico has exhibited the immense historic and cultural seafaring heritage of the upper and mid-Adriatic for over thirty years. The museum is divided into two parts, on land and on sea, one directly opposite the other. The land section of the Maritime Museum holds a vast pavilion with ships and archaeological findings and a conference centre, as well as a specialist library. The floating section includes 10 vessels popular between the late 1800s and the mid-1900s. The whole experience is dedicated to the tradition of seafaring life. Around Christmas, the floating museum ships become a Maritime Nativity Scene, where statues of the Holy Family are mixed with figures of typical seaside tradesmen and townsfolk.

Just like every seaside town in Romagna, wellness and sport are an integral part of the holiday experience. Cesenatico hosts several sporting events, including the Nove Colli: a cycling race of either 130 km or 200 km, which has become a popular choice for an active holiday. Offering the same distance options, the Nove Colli Running starts from the front of the Maritime Museum and follows the same route on foot as the cycle race of the same name.

Another fun event is the Cesenatico Cammina, which involves evening walks to keep fit, relax and prevent problems such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity. The walkers meet in front of the Hall of Tourism. The event is an initiative of the Municipality of Cesenatico.

After working up an appetite, remember that you're in Romagna, one of Italy's gastronomic capitals. To reward your palate, stop in at Dispensa di Romagna, on Piazza Ciceruacchio. On the shores of the port are several restaurants of every type, elegant to family style, preparing delicious fresh seafood dishes according to the best traditional recipes, and with a sprinkle of innovation. Fish is an important economic resource for the town and is also the theme of two annual festivals, one in spring, the other in autumn, drawing in thousands of tourists from Italy and abroad.

And last but not least, the sea. Its crystalline waters and beaches make it perfect for families and visitors of every age. The eastern beach near the centre is lined with cycle/foot paths, while in Valverde di Cesenatico, there's an eco-friendly beach, equipped with simple and recycled materials to support sustainable tourism. Lovely beaches, typical Romagnola hospitality, sport and great food will make your stay unforgettable. So start organising your getaway with a last minute holiday offer to Cesenatico.
