Very limited space in Castro-Urdiales for pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago, so I booked this pension last-minute and it was perfect! Great location in town and to the Camino.

Petite chambre
I checked in here three days ago and, being a pilgrim, the first thing I do is check under the sheets for bedbugs. For the first time on any of my Camino, I find them! I take pictures. I show them to the woman in the reception. She pretends as if she's surprised but it was crystal clear that she was lying. She then says she understand if I don't want to stay and that I should call hotels.com for a refund.
She then refuses to reply or talk to hotels.com for three whole days and then claims that I have never said anything about any bedbugs, but that I didn't want to stay in the room because it was...(wait for it)...TOO SMALL!!!
When has a pilgrim who is used to sleeping in bunk beds with 30 other pilgrims ECER left a room they've already paid for because it was simply too SMALL?
I've reported her to the council and the police and am going to email the albergues in Bilbao and Portugalete and ask them to warn pilgrims about her pension.
Not only does she not care about that she spreads these bugs all over the Camino, makes pilgrims pay huge sums of money to sanitize their homes when they bring them with them, but she actually sinks so low as to LIE to keep a petty payment for a single room.
And she has the Camino shell on her website. This woman has a religious symbol on her website in order to lure pilgrims in....
I'm so angry.
