"While you can tell the property is trying to update and improve, it leaves a lot to be desired, here was my experience. I booked this stay for a soccer tournament for my son thinking we could stay close and hop in the pool after a long day in the sun... After the first day of games, hot and tired, GPS leads us into a mostly abandoned, depressed shopping center in downtown Anderson, CA... Thinking this was GPS mistake I almost turned around until I realized there was, in fact a hotel there to, a gray desolate building marked only with a blank, black sign... Even my 10 year old was a bit nervous. Check in went strangely as there was no one at the desk, and I was instructed by a handmade sign on the counter to call a cell phone for service. I called twice before a woman answered and appeared shortly after for check in. She was efficient but not friendly or very helpful besides to check in. When we got to the room it was clean, I was relieved but as my son soon discovered the TV worked but had no working channels and there was no paper or sign with wifi login info. I walked back to the front were there were now 3 surley women to told me "no wifi, cable's out" and didn't seem to want to offer me much more explanation. Annoyed, but not dismayed, I returned to the room to get in the pool with my son, when we found it (there were zero signs) we found it was dirty and turned right around. I cancelled my reservation (with a lot of trouble as it was impossible to find employees)."

"Stayed as a last minute decision for a soccer tournament with my son and unexpectedly a bunch of his teammates were there too which was a nice surprise. I know it must have been hard on the staff having about a million screaming kids and floaties in the pool area but they took it in stride, were patient and I always saw someone cleaning up, and checking in. With all those people the hotel remained clean and stocked with towels, salad bar, etc. The bartender was super fast when I went for my complimentary adult beverage, and although she was inundated with sun swept soccer parents, she was totally fast and efficient, with a smile on her face. I have stayed here before for work, and for fun and every time have a really good experience. It's my go-to when visiting Redding, CA weather I'm with family, friends, or myself."

"The place I usually stay at when I visit was full so I picked this one, as it is close-ish to downtown and gets good reviews. What I couldn’t tell from the photos is that this is a converted motel. You walk through a lobby, but then out doors to your room. If you’re on the second floor, you’re lugging your bags up stairs. The rooms are updated, and it seemed clean but there was a hair in the tub which is always a little gross. I didn’t like that the bathroom sink area is open to the room so you can’t wash your hands or do anything at the sink without waking up the whole room. A door should be added. Also, the TV made no sense. The channels were not correct and the guide didn’t work. My son is on the news there and I wanted to watch but we could never find the correct channel. And could not get streaming to work, so couldn’t watch a movie or anything. That was frustrating. The staff were nice, but we stayed 3 nights and there was zero room cleaning. That also surprised me. I know it went away with Covid, but most places I have been staying in the past year or 2 have room service again. So overall, it’s a 3* stay for me. It was fine. I should note that the bed was pretty comfortable (and I’m very picky), and the pillows were also good. I wouldn’t necessarily choose to stay here again, but would in a pinch."
