"Breakfast was amazing!!!
Fresh made waffles, fruit, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes and sausage.
Prepared, laid out well, with the tables being cleaned as needed. The pans of food, were stocked constantly. No one had to wait, for food to be restocked.
I liked the location of my room131, it did not have any rooms, next to mine, plus superb sound proofing. Never heard any doors closing, or people talking in the halls.
I look forward to my next chance, to use another of your hotels. "
"The rooms we booked were very clean and well kept. The beds were very comfortable, with obviously clean bedding. You could smell that all of the bedding was well cleaned. One of the rooms did have a distinct odor that seemed strange, kind of like curry spices. Other than that, the king suites were great. The buffet was great, complete with delicious, freshly made sausages, biscuits and eggs. One evening, the staff offered homemade tacos to guests! The coffee from the machine in the lobby was good. The staff are very nice. Very friendly and helpful, welcoming people at the desk ready to assist you. I did not use the pool, fitness room, laundry facilities or parking, so cannot say anything about those. But the pool was huge and clean from the look of it. Very close to lots of restaurants and stores that are right across the street.
One thing to note is that the hotel is right next to a train track. You will hear the train blasting its horn loudly as it goes by. There is no way to not hear it unless you have ear plugs. Not too many trains going by daily, but when they do, you will hear it. Great place!
I would definitely book again. For the price, it is a great deal."
"I choose “average” because for $100@night in Iowa City, one would expect tha basics: clean, quiet enough, easy access to room, parking, temperature easily controlled, etc. all of these seemed to work well enough plus bed comfortable. Nothing particularly notable beyond that. If going for sports, relatively convenient. "
"First, the front desk supervisor was not overly friendly. She spoke to us quickly in a rather harsh tone. Going up the room, we wondered if the elevator would make it. Then, once in our room, we found the shade broken, which prevented any light from entering the room. We asked to be moved to another room, and the front desk supervisor said that wasn't possible given our reservation. Really? When maintenance arrived to look at the blind, his response was, "Yeah, it's toast." There were also clumps of dust on the walls. When we asked again to be moved to another room, we were offered a reduced rate or a room at the Holiday Inn next door. However, the hotel manager stepped in and promptly moved us. The new room was okay, I guess, although not really considering the cost of the stay. Laminate was missing from areas on the furniture, the bottom sheet had a rip exposing the mattress, and the shower drain was rusted and gross. The only ice machine that worked was in the lobby. Breakfast was below average (e.g., the hard-boiled eggs wouldn't peel.) We tried the connecting restaurant, and it was empty, like, where are the customers at peak breakfast time on a Sunday morning? We won't be back. "
"Parking was convenient and plentiful just not attached to hotel itself. Staff was consistently friendly, helpful, & attentive to any question we had. Absolute gem in the perfect location."
