"We were only able to stay one night, but our night at the Vallombrosa vineyard was very peaceful. The hosts were very helpful and kind and were gracious to bring me some emergency supplies. Although the property lies in a beautiful setting, it’s important to note that it takes at least 30 minutes to get to Lugano and the lake by car. I also have a couple suggestions to make the room even better:
-Provide a properly functioning coffee machine (Ours only produced 1-2 tablespoons of coffee. Maybe...

"Mycket trevligt boende med tillgång till privat strand. Poolen stängd vilket den inte skulle vara. Spännande infart från trafikerad gata med låst grind."

"The staff at this hotel were excellent. Having two pools was a bonus as you could use the indoor pool when the outdoor pool was busy. The absence of a bar was a slight disappointment and the rooms were small even by European norms. Dated TVs meant no connectivity of maps.... but who goes on holiday to watch TV? Breakfast was very good too. The location (approx. 200m from Paradiso train station) made things very easy Tip: the number 2 bus will take you from the hotel (stop next to the supermarket) up the hill to the station, else it is a steep trek with luggage. The hotel is also alongside the funicular for Monte San Salvatore
Watching the sunset from 900m+ is awesome (and you can buy a beer up there too!)
And as with nearly every other hotel in the area, you get a Ticino Ticket that gives you free public transport (except for the ferries) in the Ticino region.
We had such a great time we stayed an extra night.
Our thanks to the staff at Hotel Admiral."
"Very large and comfortable room. Easy and helpful technology to operate features in the room. Exceptional breakfast with lots of choices. Convenient location next to the train. Was easy to take a train to the Locarno city center in under 15 minutes. Transportation is included with the Ticino pass so request it from the front desk. Recommend this property."
"We had a great time staying at this hotel. We took the bus right outside the hotel to the city center, which was so easy to get to. The rooms were nice and clean, and the view of the mountain was just amazing."
"The beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious. Overall it was a beautiful hotel. We were upgraded to a larger room but unfortunately the upgraded room overlooked a smoking patio. The people at check in were extremely slow and didn’t provide any information ie. WiFi codes or offering the Ticino pass or other information about the Lugano area."
"Overall a fantastic hotel. Great breakfast. Pool was amazing with a good amount of sunbeds. It got very busy on the weekend compared to the weekdays. We felt that given the heatwave when we stayed they should have given us bottled water everyday not just randomly on 2 days as they appeared to do. Also there were a lot of corporate events on during the weekdays. The pool bar is very, very expensive. There is a supermarket bearby that is about 8 min walk but they lock you out of the minibar and you have to request access - so you can’t easily chill drinks. Also they add 5% service charge for your stay and they tell you this at checkout. They do say it’s optional but you feel obliged to pay it. Along with city taxes this can add a significant amount to your bill so be aware!"
"We were very happy with our stay at LUGANODANTE. The location is perfect, close to shopping, restaurants, the train, and waterfront. They also have parking onsite which was very convenient. All the employee we met were extremely helpful and friendly. We loved the Mixology drinks and the breakfast buffet was first rate."
"An amazing view and a brilliant hotel. They gave us two connecting rooms for our family of 4 and it was a lot of room. No air conditioning which meant it was hot but they provided fans. The pizza on site was amazing for dinner that night. The drive up to it can be scary as very sharp turns and a lot of incline. Only thing that I could complain about was the breakfast as there was no options for any of us to eat. The waiter said that there was a delivery problem but it meant no croissants, no anything really apart from some old hard bread and some scrambled eggs. Was very disappointed with that."
"This was an overnight stop on our way to Italy. The hotel was very quiet despite close proximity to the motorway. The staff were really helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed. Nice views over the surrounding hills.
No tea/coffee in the room but a station off reception with free water, tea and coffee. There was no breakfast in the hotel but a croissant was provided in the morning and if someone wants a larger breakfast then the buffet restaurant next to the hotel is available. Also, hotel guests receive a 20% discount on a meal there and there was a fair choice of food to suit most people.
We would definitely be happy to stay there again, particularly with the cost of Swiss accommodation which can be much more expensive if you’re not planning on spending more time there"
