We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived as it’s actually a firefighters charity who rent their rooms out of a weekend, and is used for firefighters rehab during the week. "On arrival we were unable to access the property and had to wait for another guest to let us in. Smooth check process thereafter, Michael receptionist lovely and welcoming. Property description is not entirely what it seems as whole chalet is a bit miss leading, the rooms are part of a large building and spacious, clean rooms. "Great Location, Cool Building with Interesting Historical Character but with Modernised Rooms - but not to the standard that they are charging for them, felt quite overpriced to me as someone who regularly travels, I’ve had much better rooms at the cheaper chain hotels. With the rooms being average you possibly could expect the hotel to justify its high prices through good service instead but again this was also average at best - with the exception of the concierge staff who were all brilliant, everyone else we interacted with felt like they couldn’t care less, nothing they said was particularly rude or wrong, it just felt like a lack of effort and like they were doing the bare minimum - Totally acceptable in a £70 a night Travelodge but not at The Grand’s prices. Everything else felt like a particularly pricey add on to try and fleece you too - parking @ £40 a night, Pool access is £27 a person for a 1.5 hour slot - if you managed to pre-book it, I ordered one alcoholic single and a mixer and a non-alcoholic drink at the bar and paid in excess of £25 for it. They need to either up their service levels / customer experience significantly or drop their prices a chunk to suit what they are currently offering to customers."

"We loved our stay for three nights, great room with plenty of space for the wheelchair. Breakfast was gtrat with plenty of choice. All staff were brilliant from the time we arried to the time we departed. Accesible parking right outside the hotel with a blue badge. Just one downside, after having a shower water stayed on the floor for some time afterwards, paddling not my thing. Housekeepers were very helpful with this issue and we reminded the reception when we departed. This did NOT spoil our great stay at the hotel."

"Hotel location was great on the Marina, Plenty of restaurants under the hotel, Great boardwalk, Asda near by, Free Parking for hotel Guests, Not far, Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for them. Amazing customer service from one of the Managers called Ellie, then special mentions to Rachel, Makela, Then the lady at breakfast/Resturant was amazing and so friendly her name was Tirawan . Breakfast was Devine so much choice.. Rooms were fantastic, Clean and modern.. We were there as a family in a mini break, I had booked three rooms."
