"La Cigale, certainly lives up to its excellent reputation. The property is impressively clean, with well-maintained grounds and a world-class golf course. The lower staff members are friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, the upper management was unresponsive to customer needs, which was disappointing.
While the hotel website highlights a variety of dining options, during my late May stay, several restaurants were closed, leaving us unprepared. It would be helpful to update the site to reflect seasonal availability accurately. Our prepaid half-board included breakfast and dinner, which was problematic for me due to a medical condition that prevents me from eating dinner. I asked if the prepaid value could be applied to lunch instead, but this request was declined.
The breakfast buffet started strong but quickly showed limitations. The fruit selection was notably poor, with bland offerings, and items like fresh-squeezed orange juice were often unavailable. The beach area was partly closed for maintenance, and that information wasn’t communicated beforehand.
Our room, 1256, had a stunning sea view, and the housekeeping staff was diligent, but the bed was squeaky and disruptive, and the rain shower was clogged.
Finally, while enjoying the sea breeze from the balcony, we had to deal with large flies and insects frequently entering the room. In light of this, I recommend installing balcony screens to improve guest comfort."
"The best thing about this place is its location in the middle of the forest and its very friendly staff, especially at the Reception Desk Mr. Mahran exemplifies professionalism and hospitality. He was amazingly helpful and polite and made our stay so much more enjoyable. "
"I visited at the low point in the low season, but the hosts could not have been more welcoming, helping me sort out a problem with my rental car within minutes of arrival. The ensuite bedroom was very comfortable and quiet; breakfast was a rich mix of local specialities and meant that lunch was quite unnecessary. Very warmly recommended! "
"I visited mid January. Weather was pretty cold. Host provided a heater and the AC couls be used to heat, but had to be turned off every 2 hrs. Almost sufficient to heat the seating area and one bedroom, but definitely pretty chilly in the rest of the space, especially the bathroom. Hot water was available only for few minutes while the heating system kicked in. It was not possible to shower.
This was listed as bed and breakfast, but breakfast is not available, as some of the other reviewers have also stated."
"The room was a part of a private residence. The room itself was clean and provided the bare essentials. Our room had a bathroom but no real shower to speak off as it was a hose in the same place that the toilet and sind were located.
The pictures from the Expedia site show the property in a much better light that it actually is which created a bit of an expectation disconnect.
The guest room section of the property is off the main living area separated by a short flight of stairs. If the owners are watching TV or if the other guests are noisy you can hear everything.
For the $150 USD that we paid, this was not a good value. $40 USD would have been more appropriate."
