Could be better

Only tap water was offered in the room, no biscuits to go with the tea/coffee, no shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom, an extremely tiny bedroom and shower cubicle, certainly not good value for £75.

Main focus was their restaurant guests not hotel

Disappointing stay compared to last year. Bath towels weren’t changed once during our 5 night stay. Had to ask for tea/coffee facilities to be replenished even though they state the rooms are serviced daily. We were also challenged on whether we were staying in the hotel because we arrived in a campervan. Perhaps you should take note of guests registration numbers to avoid embarrassing them. Main priority seemed to be new Sunset Restaurant rather than hotel guests. Very disappointing.

Positive points: 1) The balcony and stunning views from the room 2) Gent that served breakfast on Tues 30 & Weds 31 August 3) Kids play area Negative points: 1) Check-in. We arrived an hour early, they weren’t ready which is fair enough but didn’t offer to look after our bags. We then went back an hour after check-in time & they were still not prepared as they did not have the check-in paperwork printed. Check-in took over 15 minutes! 2) Staff. Except for the gent mentioned above all other staff we dealt with were rude with one female staff member saying, after we had been waiting 10 minutes from 08:05 on our first morning for breakfast not knowing the drill & no-one was about so when someone did come out I asked if we were early and her reply was ‘No, we start breakfast at 8am, I was prepping breakfast & cant see through walls!’ - a totally uncalled for comment & if you start at 8am then have staff available to greet guests on arrival! 3) Restaurant. We ate in the Sunset restaurant one evening & dinner took nearly an hour to arrive & was nothing special with no apology. 4) The Room. Practically everything in our room needed fixing or tightening - clock didn’t work, toilet holder was loose, tap was loose, toilet seat was loose, lampshades sat wonky on lamps, fitted sheets didn’t fit, plug cover in shower loose which then exposed a sharp plug hole! Patio doors required some brute force to get both open (with no help from staff again may I add).

We booked the cheaper street view double room for two nights as we did not mean to spend a lot of time in the room. The hotel is well situated overlooking Widemouth Bay with plenty of seating areas to take in the view. The room was small which we did not mind but the bed was small for two people, we could not get a good night sleep with two people in the bed. There was no chair in the bedroom. It was more suited to one person. The wardrobe was a length of copper pipe screwed to the wall with 3 coat hangers on it so we left our clothes in the suit case. There was no shelf in the bathroom so we left our toilet bag on the floor. There is plenty of signs in the car park to state that the car is left at owners risk. I came out to find that a gardener had cut the grass verge around the car park only to find that there was grass cuttings all over the front, bonnet and even the windscreen of my car. How the cutting got that high and far is not normal for a normal petrol grass cutter. Meals were average and not over priced. Would not go again.

Excellent stay from start to finish. Food was excellent and value for money. The breakfast was perfect. Great vegetarian options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend

Choose your room carefully

One member of staff was behind the bar and completely ignored me until a another customer pointed me out, whereupon the bar person became the hotel receptionist and booked us into our room. The room was small, the double bed was small, there was only one bedside table hence only one bedside light. There ware no chairs and nowhere to put baggage other than the floor. The bathroom was adequate for most people but would have benefitted from an extra shelf for washrags etc. There was nowhere to plug in an electric razor. The restaurant produced good food, both dinner and breakfast, but can be busy in the evenings.

Cornwall on the sea

Beautiful hotel with fantastic views

The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The hotel is beautifully presented with fine attention to detail. It is a few minutes walk along the costal path from the beach. The outside seating area looks out along the coast and good children's play areas. My main disappointment was that as I would be in the room from early evening babysitting my son, I specifically wanted a hotel with free wifi. I was therefore very disappointed that I could only achieve internet connection in the dining area. There was a notice in the room stating that wifi connection was unreliable. This should therefore be mentioned in the advert. The doors onto our balcony had to remain locked for health and safety reasons.

Great location sea views.

Top location and very good menu for breakfast and evening meals,good staff and two good bars to relax after your meal.Tidy rooms with everything you need for an enjoyable stay.Plenty for the children to do good outdoor activities and secure .All in all a great place to stay.

Nice place.

Friendly staff and a comfortable room. Will definitely stay again. I was staying in the area on business and found the wifi was a bit sketchy for working online, had to sit in the restaurant to work, but that is the only issue I found. Although it would make no difference if staying there on holiday.

Lovely friendly hotel, lovely gardens and food was excellent.great location. Our only negative was the en suite. The toilet being in the wet room, which was really small with just a shower door into the bedroom. Don,t know if all the rooms were the same.
