Terrible!

Extremely poor service, we checked in to the B&B with friends to be then handed our keys and told to find our own rooms as she needed to deal with an inpatient guest. Not sure where they got the photos for the hotel but they certainly weren’t of the rooms we stayed in, window had no lock despite being on first floor bathroom door didn’t close properly they forgot the breakfast on the last day which was not worth £10. One of the items was half a bagel not sure where the other half went. You could barely get in and out of the bed as it was so close to the wall, the best thing about the room was the hair dryer!

Good stay in Brighton

Solo room was quite small and not the best condition. However as the hot water wasn't working I got moved to a double room and that was lovely!!! Friendly service!

Certainly value for money. You mustn’t expect a lot of space in a single room in this type of older converted property. But the room would benefit from a makeover.

Property and staff terrible. Room not as shown on web site. Our room faced the back and was very dim . Couldn't get into bed unless you made sure that the bathroom door was shut. The shower had black Mark's all round the base hense we did not use it . We booked full breakfast with it and was only offered continental which we refused as it had been sat for about two hours before we came down we made a complaint and was told that full breakfast was a continental style. The hotel was two buildings next door to each other we were in the part that still needed work doing to it . It had no connecting door and we felt very much like the overflow . We had to ring a bell to get attention or to ask for anything as they had to come from next door . We were told that we couldn't eat breakfast in the other building unless we paid for a cooked breakfast which was an extra £12 each . The dining room next door was laid up as you would expect . We had an old table in the window of a room which was bare of anything and two upright chairs which had seen better days . Our breakfast was stacked on a tray and dumped in the middle of the table . We took one look at it then went and got our belongings and booked ourselves into a better place round the corner . It just a shame that both of us were so angry that we neglected to take photo evidence but it won't stop us demanding a refund.

A place to crash.

Five hotel was super convenient as we were there for a festival on the beach, so we were very close. Also the room was fine - the bed was quite comfortable, just that the room had an overall feeling of being a bit shabby. The fixtures and fittings were installed badly - hanging off the wall and half of the electric sockets didn’t work. The bathroom was literally just a shower and a toilet. The sink was in with the main room. A bit tight and also the door didn’t shut, so there’s no privacy. We only saw staff on arrival and then nothing for the rest of our stay. That wasn’t a problem for this particular trip. The area is a bit of a crazy one but it is Brighton after all. The hotel was fine for our trip as we just wanted somewhere to crash after being at a festival all day. But given the amount of options in the area, I wouldn’t go back.

Could be better

We stayed in room 10. The room was in need of some redecorating very tired nothing like the pictures. The ensuite was ridiculous small you couldn't even open the shower door fully because of the sink being in the way. The window in the ensuite was cracked, the push down plug in the sink did not work and on the last day the sink water would not drain away there was also dust on the bedside table. The bed was clean and comfortable and we were able to have a good night's sleep and the hotel is close to the sea front and city centre. Five is owned by next door The square at number 4 which is a much more expensive hotel so you get the impression that five is a bit of a after thought that they are not really that bothered about.

Friendly staff, but I would not stay here again.

Location is amazing! Close to everything you need. I stayed in a single room, and the size was alright for a single room. However, the room was dirty. Also after cleaning. There was dust everywhere and spiderweb in a corner in the bathroom. The carpet was really dirty. I did not want to touch anything, which made my time in the room less relaxing than I had hoped. Thankfully the shower was okay. The staff (who are in the hotel next door!) were all super friendly and helpful.

Location is great! The bedsheet, pillow cases, towels etc. were very clean, but the floor was very dirty with many stains on the carpet. Space is tight, but if you only plan to sleep, it is not too bad. Staff were friendly. A few lights were not working the first night, but they fixed it soon after. Breakfast was good.

Little to no value for money

Brighton is always FUN! Unfortunately the hotel was not. Bathroom rundown and dirty the windows in the room couldnt be opened, which added a somewhat claustrophobic feeling.

The room was ok. No one around really which is a bit creepy. No one there to check you out either. Room ok. Little cold but spacious and clean. Parking awful. Sold us a 24 hour pass for zone C. Parked in zone C and got a parking ticket anyway.
