"I read some not so good reviews about the lodge so was a bit nervous. I can now say with absolute certainty that I will go back yearly or more if I can! The comments about the smell were totally off base/exaggerated. It is a lodge in the woods, surrounded by water in Scotland! It's going to rain! There was a dehumidifier running when I arrived plus I opened a window to circulate the air for about 15 - 20 minutes while I unloaded the car so had no issues with damp or a musty smell. Lisa met me in the car park and showed me where everything was and how they worked. She is an absolute gem of a person. Yes it's true that you can't park outside of the lodge and have to carry your things up the small hill, so if you have mobility issues, this lodge might not be for you but they do have ones closer to the car park with no hill to walk up. If you are expecting 5 star, white glove accommodation at this price, you've got unrealistic expectations! If you want a cozy, comfortable lodge in a beautiful setting, this is for you."

"Great location, lovely staff and fantastic breakfast. Room was a little dated, but full of all the amenities you would expect - kettle, TV, hair dryer, ironing board etc. The bathroom was well stocked with shower gel, shampoo etc and having a bath was a welcome bonus too! Something was flapping about in the wind outside my room, which woke me up a few times. Probably from a private garden nearby that the hotel has no control of! A fresh lick of paint, maybe some new furniture and paying attention to high dusting in the room would make this place faultless!"
